I think it was too late, if I have my timeline right Rick Fox acquired Gravity's spot long after NRG/IMT/MBR acquired their teams so all the reasonable NA free agents had already been taken by the time Echo Fox was made.

Yeah of course Fox was way too late to the party. But I was rather wondering if other NA teams did not want Froggen or if he did not agree to stuff / was unavailable when better team offers were around.

Yeah, it sounds like Ember was originally in line to get the GV spot but they backed out at the last second and went challenger instead, paving the way for Echo Fox. (http://www.thescoreesports.com/news/5205)
That said, I do think they could have grabbed a better/more proven bot lane. Baby and Keith haven't been too impressive in their last outings and there are a number of challenger duos who have been playing with each other for months now in preparation for the challenger series qualifier (TM8+Hakuho, Rikara+Biofrost, etc.).

I kind of wonder if he didn't happen to pull an Elements, waited too long hoping for stuff to pan out then eventually left with no more options. Hopefully he's just getting paid well so he can chill with his girlfriend and play some league. Maybe the old Froggen will come back :<

The thing that gets me is that it's not even decently cobbled together NACS talent, like TM8/Biofrost is way better than Mashme/Gate. The only logical conclusion for a roster as unreal as TiP is that NACS players would rather try to make it in by themselves than play on TiP
Also their top laner is a known ADC/Bard main. Just to compound the XD

I honestly don't know if they had better options. I can't imagine they're paying these players that much that good NA CS players would play for them over a team they know won't be relegated/sold. I have to imagine they're making close to the Riot minimum salary. TiP has also shown clear intentions to sell (remember that lulzy asking price of $2 mil for their org plus a RENTED house for a year?) so it's not like you get the LCS experience and then the whole roster goes to the Challenger Series. That would honestly not be that bad a deal if you had decent up and coming players who could speak the same language. It's almost definitely we play a split and get relegated then a new owner cleans house. I'm happy that we'll finally get fucking Alex Gu out of LA once and for all in a few months. Now watch them magically finish 7th somehow.
