You started a revolution. I think people are exaggerating the problem though, I don't like the change much but it seems to me there's the same amount of good junglers as there have always been. It would be cool if they kept the sidegrade cost but let you sidegrade after you upgraded into something. Also is there really a discussion about not getting sightstone in favour of picking up a single ward here or there or using trinket? The main advantage sightstone gives you is you can spam cover an area quickly to help take objectives. It may be an exaggeration in regards to just this patch, but I think it's pretty valid over the years of jungle mismanagement. Sidegrades at their current cost are worthless. Upgrading Machete adds 15g to the large monster kill bounty. To make up for that 255 cost, that bonus gold will have to be absorbed from 17 camps. That's over 4 jungle clears if buffs are down. The cost is currently so prohibitive, Riot might as well just have removed it form the game.

If you're buying 3 wards each b, that's 225g. You tell me if you're overbuying (I'd say it is, especially if you're already behind in gold). The real problem is buying sightstone; that item is the biggest noob trap since madred's bloodrazor. Look at the stats and the item win rate and tell me if its worth it (hint: it's not). And I'm not telling people not to buy wards, I'm telling them to not buy more than upgrading the trinket and pink wards as needed. Honestly, if you know what you are doing, the trinket will suffice for general vision needs. And to reiterate, this is for solo q, pro games are a whole different animal. While I will agree that post 9 having upgraded trinket is sufficient because you can have 3 wards on the map as long as you use it on cooldown, before 9 I think not buying wards is just plain dumb. Maybe if YOU know what you are doing and are confident in not getting ganked then sure it can be fine - but this is a team game. I have found that warding not only helps me stay safe but more importantly it helps the 4 other jabronis on my team not die. If you bought wards pre9 it would help: 1) Find people in your jungle so your team can more easily collapse 2) Find people in THEIR jungle so your team can more easily collapse 3) Warding raptors, river entrances, red buffs, blue buffs, etc. can help YOUR teammates not die. This is a team game and while warding certainly has many advantages for me getting fed, it more importantly helps prevent my idiot team from not throwing while I try to carry the game with the powers of the moon. You don't need much more than the trinket ward and maybe an odd ward to accomplish this. Warding key river/bush spots and you can deduce where people are. Of course if your teammates are bad, they'll still die with or without vision. "Hey that jarvan went out of vision, he's probably gone and wouldn't try coming back." This sound familiar? I bolded the "you" because that is my point. YOU can deduce where they are, but what about your teammates? Also I pretty much disagree with the bolded statement. If your teammates are so bad that they die with vision then I don't get that. Obviously someone may not be looking at the map, but if you see the jarvan coming from the river, raptors, tribush, etc. then surely most people would back off or at least be ready to escape? If your teammates are so bad that they die without AND with vision I find it hard to believe you win any games otherwise they would be free ganks all day and you would have to 1v9 literally every game. ps Would you mind taking a summoner's rift map and just adding some quick ward spots in MS paint or something? Maybe ward coverage with your pink and trinket ward and odd ward that you speak of? I think that would be interesting to see where you are warding because I am only a silver level player and while I ward basic areas I am always looking for better places to ward.

And if you're taking ugpraded ward trinket on support, who's carrying the sweepers? Do people buy ruby crystals for the sake of having a ruby crystal, especially on support champions that don't really utilize health? When you buy the sightstone, you prevent the ruby crystal from actually being turned into something useful and so to buy your big support item (ie locket) you have to buy yet another ruby crystal. Idk if this makes sense, but stacking ruby crystals isn't how you win bot lane. Bonus points when you have to sell the sightstone because it isn't a real item. If you really need wards for whatever reason, pay 75g as you go instead of 400 up front on a deadend item. Also, you can use pink wards in lieu of sweepers. It's not like you need many pinks, you just clear the important wards. Remember this is solo q, you don't get bonus points for lighting up the whole map or denying the opponent from doing so. Jungler or support can take sweeper late game and the other can just use a ward trinket. lol I get that I sound like a retarded bronze player, but sometimes some stuff that just sounds retarded actually works. Wait, people start the game with sweeper? Instead of, you know, the ward trinket? The swap happens at a point where you'll have your upgraded trinket. As for your ward getting cleared later on, you know the jungler is there, cool, now don't get into a hard engage unless your jungler will counter gank or you see their jungler someone else. About time people complain like that. Remember when a silver guy balanced the game? Now they have diamond players (still bad) balance it. I get that they have to balance around solo q and pro games which can be tricky, along with toxic champions (ie akali isn't allowed to have a good winrate), but you'd think they'd do better things than destroy non-toxic champions or give ahri a movement speed buff on q just like that. Probably my biggest complaint is Adobe Air/the shitty client.

Or you end up losing because the enemy bot lane all-in'd you and all you had was a sightstone. Providing damage in laning as well as not dying are very important for a support, which is why champions like blitz, leona, taric, and op junglers are stronger supports than ward bitch utility champions like sona, thresh, and others (check winrates). The difference between having a sightstone and, say, a chainvest, is extremely noticable. Catching people playing Dora doesn't really happen at my level since the tank is always in front anyways. You do have the people who bought their elo, but that doesn't really count. Besides, denying vision is usually much less important than having vision unless cheesing objectives.
