I think the worst thing he's done (other than getting mad in the heat of the moment, like every other 20-something in the universe) is that BM towards Dignitas at PAX Regionals, and even then it was true. TSM stomped Dig and Scarra was johnsing. If Cloud 9 talked shit a few days ago about how badly they stomped TSM, I wouldn't be pissed because it was true. On the other hand, relative to this, and the fact that until he retired he was top 3 mid NA (not purely for laning, because that would be a lie, but the guy held TSM together really well in-game), he's received an absolute fuckton of hate from Reddit prepared to call him when he does literally anything. Even when he announced on his FB that he signed Bjergsen he was still getting hate. I get why people, when they first hear him, start to dislike him, but by now it's all just dumb Reddit confirmation bias-turned-hivemind. | ||

But other than that, for a group of 6 Twenty-something guys living in a house, many of whom are super lazy and probably sleep late, dont do dishes, or take out the trash (oh, and are filmed like half the day), TSM had fairly low levels of yelling, ragging, and bullying. One of my roommates had it way worse because he never did his dishes and left dirty laundry everywhere. Crap, I've had more awkward moments in high school seeing married couples arguing at a friends house. Edit: I think Regi hate is because of the internet's populace (reddit in particular) extreme anti-bullying stance, which is out of whack with what is actually bullying, because it is based on the opinions of people who think they were bullied a lot (they weren't, but thinking they were is part of their identity). | ||

There are all sorts of justifications being made about why that's okay. He's very successful, and perhaps his attitude reinforces that success. Maybe everybody else in his general vicinity is also a dick. Maybe the people he's a dick to deserve it. Maybe he's not always so bad and the internet has just put him in a bad light. Any or all of these things may be at least partially true. But he's still a dick. Personally, I don't like him because I, in general, don't like people who act like that. What especially bothers me is that Regi is an athelete/manager who competes for America on an international level, which means that on some level when he's a dick, he is representing me and my country to the rest of the world in doing so. I don't like that. It's the same reason why I never liked IdrA, although that was much more direct and blatant. Maybe I'm being too harsh in that assessment but that's how I feel about the guy. Regardless, what I do think is interesting about the whole thing is that if Regi's attitude WASN'T such a matter of public debate, this whole Xpecial getting benched thing wouldn't be anywhere near this big a conversation topic. When rosters change on other teams people don't talk about it this much. But TSM has such a reputation for drama that when it happens there it's suddenly what everybody is talking about and everybody has to make a video blog explaining what happened. And Xes, I appreciate it. Sorry for flipping out. | ||

There is also one from Gamecribs where Xpecial tries to get into a pendantic argument with Mr Oaf, but that one peters out and also its GAMECRIBS. Like Regi calls it as it is, so maybe that comes off as harassment? But then you'd have to say he bullies himself when he's like "yo dudes I'm retiring cuz I'm not cutting it for TSM." Iirc the public reaction to the dyrus fight was one of the things that caused Regi to reevaluate his position on TSM. It's possible that his behavior didn't improve or that it only did for a bit but I would be surprised. Pre-retire Regi was manager, coach, and player. Now he just manages. That is a big load off and removes him from a lot of the drama surrounding the team. He can talk about improving mechanics and champion lineups without being subject to negative feelings due to his own mistakes that need correcting. It's hard to fault his judgement here considering he has not made a roster mistake yet besides staying on mid longer than he should have. Frankly I watched the first 20 second of that xpecial video and said "yup bench him". If you lose your job and you're talking about it there are three ways to go about that 1) " I fucked up time to fix it" 2) "I don't know why I lost me job" or 3) "I know why and I don't care". Xpecial did none of those. His head cannot be in the right spot needed to play at this level if his first thought isn't "time to fix it" | ||
