Too much damage, dirt easy jungle clear, lots of mobility, low cooldown. Her only problem is her lack of AOE... which honestly is not too much of a drawback for a jungler. W in human form isn't even that bad of AoE imo once she gets some AP (if you don't go the golem/pure tank route) provided you don't send it out to explode on just the first one or two melee minions.

Go 6-4, get placed into Bronze 1 after being Silver 5 for season 3, meh. Last game in promos my team threw so hard, swear we were XDG from like minute 10 onward. Probably done with league for the week, will try to get to silver again during non-peak hours when all the baddies and ragers are playing.

You were Silver 5, which means you were on the borderline between the two to begin with.
I'd say your placements went splendid, considering many of us got knocked down multiple tiers. I went from Silver 3 to Bronze 3 after splitting 5-5, so count yourself lucky.
Not that your placement actually matters when considering your MMR is what calculates who you play against.

I don't see why people complained so much about getting demoted tiers. The practice against people a little worse than you is good for trying new champs, working on cs, carrying, etc. etc. and it's super easy to get back up, assuming where you used to be is still your skill level. Was gold 2 in preseason, placed in gold 5, back in gold 2 after ~50 games. Not that difficult and I'm a better player for it since I focused on top lane, which used to be my worst role.

Do note that people's MMR got "squished" towards 1200, not straight up decreased. I'd say he's roughly the same MMR or potentially higher.

Yeah it wasn't too bad at all. I went gold 2 -> silver 2, one of my friends went gold 3 -> silver 3. You could have been bronze 5.

For example, Valve patented pre-release of a game over a network, how they pre-load data for games, heck they even patented anti-piracy measures via easter eggs. This move by Riot is nothing new and is not limited to just Riot. Furthermore, a large majority of patents are meant to be ambiguous. In fact, companies deliberately make them generic and ambiguous, then narrow everything down massively with each subsequent set of claims. Any claims that are too generic to hold water in a lawsuit will be meaningless, and the ones that are specific enough to not have prior art (aka other spectator clients, matchmaking algorithms that existed before Riot's) will remain valid. It's standard practice to make the claims as broad as you can get away with, so long as some of them are specific enough to actually stand up to serious interrogation and protect what's important.
As an active patent lawyer, this is correct. It is the job of the patentee to try to claim as much as possible, and it is the job of the patent examiner at the USPTO to tell them "no".
From a more philosophical point of view, patent law is meant to be a balancing act between rewarding innovation and rewarding the public eventually for that person's innovation. That is why our patent term is 20 years (and you have to renew it or your rights are lost during that time). Also, many "patent trolls" (PAEs) are actually necessary entities because what they do is buy patents from innovators who cannot afford to litigate against large companies.
The patent system as a whole actually is quite effective, there are basically a few problematic areas such as smartphones, finance and business methods, and software. However, that is mostly the fault of the USPTO being overwhelmed with applications and examiners not getting enough time to review applications, and the deck being stacked against them because of how the appeal system is set up. However, certain industries like pharmaceuticals, disease resistant plants, and medical devices could not survive without them because the cost of creating, testing, and developing the product is so much more significant than the marginal cost of a pill, a seed, or a bone screw.

Patents for biotech stuff are ridiculous. Patenting genes and shit that are already in nature...

You should probably read AMP v. Myriad and Mayo v. Prometheus before you continue to speak about things that you do not have any semblance of understanding.

Let me be clear, I"m not QQing about my placements, as I was expecting to be Bronze 1 or Silver 5 again. I just felt that if I didn't throw so hard I'd have been able to carry my last game to a win and get Silver 5 or higher. I made 2-3 bad calls where I died for 0 reason, in a fairly close game, which gave the enemy team enough gold to complete their items just a bit ahead of us and win a crucial team fight.

Didn't get to clarify, since I was on my phone, which now that I read it a bit misleading. What I meant was during times of my internship at a biotech labs, we were doing some pretty loose research and development (for commercial purposes, not strict university research), we couldn't use certain genes/products, because it would infringe on certain patents. (like using certain jellyfish fluorescent in our vectors), despite the patenting for that specific gene not even being used for the purposes we were intending to use them for. So often it ended up limiting what we could do. Understandably our stuff was obviously for commercial end (money making, not strictly research), which was the issue here, but it was extremely frustrating as an intern to deal with that shit.

It's a decrepit old system that needs to be re-hauled for the 21st century. The fact that Apple can sue (and win) Samsung for rounded 90 degree corners on a rectangular shape, should tell you everything about how fucking stupid the patent system is.

So I just won a promo and got moved up to a divison 4 and lost 4 Ina row and have not been demoted yet..... Is this normal? Will I be out down after another loss I'm scared to play now lol

there's a legit function served by patents, but the notion of sovereign property is rather antiquated and needs updating to conform to specific modern conditions. social benefit should be the aim instead of an absolute notion of property rights

Starting to play league enough to actually improve. Feels good to be on a win streak going into a promotion to next division. Still have tons of room to improve and I should probly stop playing Pirate support so much..
Any ideas on how to make sure I keep a more active look on my minimap? I keep failing at it hard. Nothing worse then dieing to a bear gank you should of seen.
