You guys, I just realized something.

spring split: Dragonborns were Shushei's team, therefore Polish team even though not all Polish players.

summer split: MYM.

now spring split: KMT.

It's like a law of the universe: there must always be a Polish team in the EU LCS.

Everyone gets caught up thinking either "he can't ult carries since it's a channel" or "QSS counters him" but these are silly reasons. Malzahar deals massive AoE damage, shreds tanks and peels better than anyone. His laning is very strong and he's great at making picks.

However he's immobile and not very good at taking initiative: he's a very reactionary champ.

it took me too many games to figure out that you don't need an enemy to cast yasuo tornado, although you do need one to prime the proc

i was doing some ridiculous shit trying to e through minions to get a minion between me and enemy champ to tornado

I think Mundo is strong right now. And generally I an against manaless champs, but I think he is a symptom right now of the manaless toplaner being too strong. I thing that Riot needs to fix some systemic problems, and I suspect if they do that Mundo will fall out a bit. Like, I just played him 4/26 and stomped a GP (granted, GP is bad), even with tons of ganks I would just regen through everything. But his W HP cost is actually real earlygame so he can't just mindlessly push and proxy super earlygame like Rengar/Shy/Renekton. But because that mastery setup is stupid, he can get past his earlygame fast enough to become very Mundo-y.

The game is just so incredibly whacked right now, I don't know what champions will be good once it is fixed. Except Olaf. I don't think his remake fixed anything. And Elise, LOL Elise.

I love Malzahar but I feel like he is really comp dependent. It's so easy to get jumped on or caught out. If they have someone like chogath on their team just poking is really risky.

If you have the space to do your thing though you do crazy damage and kill anyone who goes near your ADC.
It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it.

I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

From the 2(?) games Malzahar was played in OGN, it is extremely hard to do damage with Malzahar because W requires perfect positioning and requires people to not move (5s zone at 8s CD with 40% CDR, except blue is only 10% CDR and Malzahar doesn't really want to itemize the CDR items, so more likely 10s CD). If you are in the right place with the right draft then it looks pretty glorious, but the risk/reward isn't there vs most of the other popular AP mids.

I mean even Zyra has a hard time getting her R to hit people in the world of Olaf/Shyvana/Mundo/Rengar/Vi/Jarvan

Pretty significant difference. Those things are beastly. Losing one inhibitor can mean losing the game just like that.

Malzahar doesn't really have that much trouble getting CDR. Between DFG, Grail, WotA, blue buff and Blue elixir, you can mix and match to hit 40% pretty easily with a lot of flexibility. My preferred opening build is Chalice -> Revolver for infinite health and mana, then build whatever you need.

W is good to place on top of people being dove. People avoid Null Zone even when it's level 1, so you can also use it to control areas really well.

WotA on Malz? I wouldn't recommend it, but I haven't tried it.

In my games of Malz, I feel as if you have two major options for a mid-game core, either the Rylais/Liandry (or at least haunting) route or the DFG route. Chalice is nice and all, but smart mana/E management and 2 Drings are enough to keep you going well through the lane phase. I'd probably go Morellos over Chalice on him tbh if I really needed CDR.

Haven't really tested that out, but:

Malz as a Mundo counterpick theory: Malz melts tanks when he can full combo them and all, and Mundo can't tenacity/activate ulti through suppress/silence (and you can pick up Morellos to more thoroughly counter him). AKA you can probably kill Mundo in a teamfight early on (and Mundo excels when he can stay in a fight for a long period of time, preferably at low HP).
