I jungled Aatrox for the first time yesterday and was trolled hard by Diamondprox because I looked up a build he had for the Champ and it maxed E first and then I could never gank because Dark Flight was more like a Dark Hop. It does, but not everyone on the team can afford to get it, especially not early/mid (where Malz shines). Doing so would fairly gimp Zed/Ahri damage in mid game teamfights and discourages assassinations. And really, his base damages are high enough to threaten tanky chars too.

Um Malz isn't 100% ult, guys. I generally use it when someone dives the DPS or something and he gets focused down in 0.1s. Otherwise malzahar mostly just spams stuff and has his Voidlings destroy everything. You don't need to focus targets with QSS, and being forced to spend 1.5k on an item that might not be exactly optimal for them is a win in itself.

QSS will also remove his DoT, which is a huge portion of his damage/combo.
But yes, even without his ult, his AoE clearing/pushing/teamfight is big. Pool + Jarvan ult is particularly hilarious, people often forget how much damage that thing does if you don't gtfo.

The difference is, he loses 2 major abilities to QSS, his DoT, and his ulti.
Seriously, just play Ahri and blow shit up in .5 sec, rather than trying to suppress someone for 5 seconds, and maybe get a kill.

I'm just going to say that malz is shitbad in every situation that isn't surprising someone all alone facechecking a bush he is hiding in.
QSS isn't even needed, you just CC him when he ults and he just did like 1/8th the damage of any other AP and is instantly dead because he has no CC and no escape and poo range.
He's not even that good in lane either, play like ziggs if you want to push like a madman.
