Support itemization these days...what's it all about? Is Sightstone absolutely necessary or can you buy wards + gp5-->Shurelya's/Locket/bulwark etc? What do you generally buy on your first/second backs? | ||

Always Sightstone, no other GP10 aside from runes/masteries. At least that's how I play. I like Chalice on a lot of supports but that's mostly because I'm not amazing at mana management. Shurelya's is in a pretty bad spot, not a lot of combat stats, paying a lot for the active. | ||

I've always gone sightstone > one gp5 > locket/aegis (dependent on jungler) > free wheeling Ofc countless pink wards and oracles in between. The only things I really consider important when I play support are boots, sighstone and vision denial the rest is a bonus. | ||

You're essentially summing over a stack of rectangles. As for support itemization, I feel the choice between opening philo or sightstone depends largely on how much early kill pressure you're sensing from the opposing lane/jungler. The extra health from the ruby crystals is not unsubstantial, and having the extra wards up earlier helps to deflect ganks. Most times, I would prefer philo. Granted I play mostly Sona and Janna, who both really need the mp5. | ||
