His E at max rank, when connected, does 460 + 1*ap damage. WTF is this shit lol.
It's hard to get the detonation. And you'll weep in late game when you can't get your damage off because of a lack of range. In the meanwhile however, feel free to buy a DFG and to explode people with your 2.7 AP ratio combo every 40s as long as you find an isolated target or 2.
(Or just play Zac and do the same shit while not building any AP and actually being a monster in the late game.)
PS: Twisted Advance is one of the manliest spells in the game.

Donno. I just bought Athene's + Morello's and spammed E... and won, pretty much. Range too high, damage too high
How is his clear actually? I played so much Vi, then turned to some more Udyr, that I haven't played him in forever (and Rammus and Nautilus are looking at me with puppy eyes and a shopping list that says "mobos"), but I remember being bothered a lot by his drop in clear speed, considering the only camp he's not super slow on is wraiths that isn't worth anything in s3, golems are harder than ever and the full AoE nature of his kit that makes him faster with madred's than spirit stone hurts him a lot (golem spirit is godly on him, it's the kind of item basically designed for him, but you sacrifice a lot of clearing ability for it and you don't really want to become reliant on successful early ganks for a jungler to be viable).
More like just sleeper. Hecarim does his job of tanky aoe/initiation jungler much better and at his tier you have other CC bots like Chogath, Nautilus, Volibear, etc.
Uh, Maokai is a much stronger cc bot than Volibear (and so is Nautilus; Naut, however, is stronger at ranged-initiation and a bit safer than Maokai, while Mao is more mobile (also Naut's awful base AS and passive animation make him bad against assassins with dashes, he's better at disrupting bruisers)). He also has more reliable (not saying better, in terms of damage I believe he loses) early ganks than Cho, Twisted Advance is that good. You should just pick him everytime you expect the enemy team to run the ult bot, or something like Karthus (or assassins if you already have something like Kayle, Zyra or Taric/Janna to take care of the disruption aspect), 20% damage reduction is super good against AoE (and it tends to charge your ult instantly, in late game a 500 AoE nuke to counter-initiate with the ability to drop another ult ~10s later during the clean-up phase is pretty nice).
Yeah but that's what he's done since release: people still pick him once in a blue moon (maybe if every other popular jungler is banned) but his kit is nothing remarkable in the current meta-let alone "op". AP Maokai also used to be a lot more popular (there was Chu8 and I think one another popular streamer that played it regularly) and I don't think his ratios have changed that much so it's really just a fotm thing.

Wonder who coL use for ups/downs, guess his heart just wasn't in it anymore.

It's a bit disheartening for sure. He really broke out on the LoL scene with him getting exposure for doublelift actually tolerating his support tryouts. Being one of the few people who "passed" that test. Afterwards, he seems to create a team which did pretty well in the LCS Qualifiers. Don't know what happened in between, but it seems a shame that the brunch club ain't sticking around.

It's possible that they'll pick up a new ADC but I dunno if rosters are locked for up/down. If rosters are locked they'll probably use Chuuper as their ADC.
Maokai got indirectly nerfed by camp changes. He kills baby monsters with e+q, but then he has to slap the big minion around for about 5-10 seconds before it dies.
His utility is still great for teams, but why play him when you can play Xin and jump into a fight, get free tanky stats, build pure tank+cdr, and still get a lot of free damage from passive? Or you can play Vi and just kill everything.
Hes still a good jungler, but there are simply better choices than him right now. Whenever I play him in ranked, I hate ganking so hard early, only to not win the game because I do 0 damage.
