If you play with a support who is just completely awful, never wards etc, look up his rune/mastery pages after the game. 9 times out of 10 they'll have zero GP10 on them. I feel like it is sad that in order to support you have to have a GP10 rune page, most of the bad supports I see don't have them. | ||

Most of the time I don't run GP10 runes and I do fine when I play support >_> wtf just looked at my Lolking and I apparently have a random ranked loss 2 days ago as renek going 0-0-0? Real. Did the game somehow start when I clearly exited a game in champ select because the client crashed? | ||

Having spent the IP to buy gp10 runes means you're invested enough in playing support for them to be worthwhile to you--a support who doesn't have them probably just doesn't play a lot of support (and therefore aren't good at it). It has very little to do with gp10 being necessary to play support, imo. | ||

It has very little to do with gp10 being necessary to play support, imo. Probably true, but I think a GP10 rune page is more necessary for support than other rune pages are for other characters. Not only can you get a basic AD and basic AP page and have them more or less work for everything that isn't support, but even if you don't have the correct page, the stats you get from your runes are typically going to be at least useful in secondary ways. AD will help last hit even if you're playing an AP champion, etc. On the flipside, a support not having the GP10 quints is very hard on them, and those runes don't synergize well with other roles (except maybe Jungling) so you're not very incentivized to get them unless you support all the time. It's an odd situation but it's one that I really don't think is very healthy. Playing support requires a certain setup, it's not an intuitive setup nor does it work well in other lanes, and new players aren't likely to figure it out without somebody else telling them what to do. I wonder if they could somehow have a Machete like starting item that supports could buy that would help them support and be obvious to get, so that they wouldn't be hamstrung into the GP10 runes. Like maybe a cheap item with 5 GP10 on it with some deficit that no laner would ever want. "Cannot be sold." That would be interesting. | ||
