I think the biggest rage inducing, TL;DR discussions is matchups. One person is convinced the matchup is unfair, the other person thinks it's ezpz. Thank goodness we have champ discussions so it's not that often you find this on the GD, but sometimes you do.

I've been a lurker for a while now, only recently (today precisely) have I bothered to post here. Just from an outside view, the post above mine kind of demonstrates the self destructive nature to the flow of information I am reffering to. Granted, I'm sure that you guys have been doing this for a while and are used to it. I realize that not being "in the in" and suggesting a more radical change may not be welcome. It just seems to me that it is more work than it should be to follow specific information. I will let this be the last post of mine pertaining to this discussion, it doesn't seem that it is a popular opinion and isn't in the interest of the masses.

@neo I think if we just have one updated sticky which links to discussions for all the various topics - champ builds & matchups, and other stuff like that. The OP can be divided into various sections like :- 1) General/Miscellaneous 2) Champions -akali *akali builds - links *matchups etc 3) Items discussions 4)Roles -Jungler -Support
and then just update links every few days to wherever the respective discussions took place, with a small note and stuff.
The GD we have now is already the best way for casual discussions and we all would probably want it to remain this way. This other sticky will address the issue of not being able to have all the theoretical stuff at an easy reach when u need to read up on a specific topic.

I like the matchups discussions that end up with Brees ripping off his shirt superman style and challenging anyone to 1v1 him as Talon.

Or the ones that end up in a debate as to whether the team with WW or Vlad is better.

Any garen hardcounters? What do you pick if someone goes fp garen?

Teemo.

I don't feel garen gets counter by any specific champion. Flat armor runes + opening cloth 5 basically does it.

I have a friend who wants to get better but when I told him to just read and post on TL a lot he got confused by the layout. The thing about TL is that it works great if you are used to it and if you aren't it is a weird forum structure. However this is good because it means there is a really large barrier to entry compared to other forums. That and the communal attitude makes it rare for weird unknowns to say something without feeling self conscious. So if you want to join the community or change it, you have to put thought into your posts and lurk a lot.
If i had to change one thing i would suggest at least trying to keep most matchup discussion in their character's threads. I didn't realize that this bugged other people as well, I thought it was just me that found it boring. edit: doing this would also make it so people actually posted in those threads instead of everyone posting in GD all the time
double edit: to anmolsinghmzn2009: if you think a big wiki bible of LoL information would be helpful just update the TL LoL wiki. or you could just lurk more like everyone else and get to know the game more naturally

Ryze top hard counters garen
|
I tried teemo vs garen but it was pretty underwhelming, I didn't lose lane but I didnt do that much damage to him and it was hard to kite him, not to mention q is only good for damage which isnt that much, controlling brushes was also pretty tough especially early, maybe i was doing something wrong.
|
Play Swain. So long as you don't get silenced, you shouldn't if you use Q and position properly, you will win the lane very easily.
I kind of like the big GD threads although I will admit, I've been traveling the past few days and really haven't even tried to read the last 60+ pages or so that I've missed.

You guys would have HATED the old gd threads. 1000+ pages.

EQEW with R > E > W > Q
Go like boots3 or cloth5 with wriggles -> phage -> wits and you should be able to come out with a greater advantage tbh.

It was basically an idea to address the issue people raised earlier, I've not really found it to be a problem. I frequently ask questions when I want to know something and I've real all the GDs since I started playing I always read the full champion threads whenever I start playing a new champ. Regarding the wiki, can anyone update it? Maybe I can find the time to link stuff according to the layout I had in mind earlier. I'll PM neo later.

garen is somewhat analagous to a 4pool in starcraft he's extremely strong out of the gate, but he's a bit of an all-in his lategame scaling is terrible/nonexistent and he doesn't bring a ton of utility to a team in the lategame phase
his whole role is to get far enough ahead of his lane (and in turn, the other lanes) that you can end the game during his peak of power, before enemy champs catch up.
with that in mind, good picks against garen are those that can (a) match his early game power (b) farm safely, negating his early game power (c) scale harder off less farm
champs that fall into the category of (a) might be pantheon, shen. they can trade harass with him early and possibly even kill him, and scale about equally as well as he does
champs that fall into (b) are the ones that people listed above: teemo, swain, ryze. they're essentially safe against garen, making him a poor choice because his role is nullified
champs that are in (c) might get harassed and pushed around a bit but they won't get killed or completely shut down. somewhat of a mix between (a) and (c). riven is infinitely better lategame and with her mobility can be really hard for garen to lock up. pirate can play passively, never die to garen thanks to oranges, and farm up with parrrley, completely ignoring garen. nidalee.
that being said, i don't feel like any of these champions are "hardcounters" as you asked for - these are just things to think about when going against garen

Anything with enough armor won't die or get deny by garen, and will be way better once the lanning is over.

in my experience teemo and panth squash garen

doublelift spanking hotshot top on stream Riven vs Cho
