I don't think LLL ran any wild new strat here? Coordination is no good without decent game sense, so that doesn't work here. I don't believe the differences between top teams are really that huge. I was suprised to see carrysup bot not get decimated, though.

e: The mechanics thing pretty much was true with these teams, but that still didn't give CLG enough of an edge.
So zen.

TBH the teams were even in farm through the early and early-midgame. The differences in farm began because EU snowballed. If you have map control you don't risk as much when farming.

I really don't understand your point then. Your post would mean "they are equal mechanically". But yeah no point in arguing I guess if your arguments are of that level.

Is there any way for CLG to get through or are they done?

Group stage for EMS is 6 matches apparently--everyone plays everyone else twice. I think they qualify if they win every other groupstage match. If they lose one more, I don't know how EMS does tiebreakers.

By the way, wouldn't it have been better for CLG to lane corki bot and Cho top? Were they too used to their standard lineup and were too stubborn to change?

Can someone explain why clg had such tanky picks in both games. First game they had cho, shen and mumu. Second game cho, rammus, alistar. Seems like a whole lot of cc but not a lot of damage.

Its the US meta... amazing lategame but only if the opponent doesn't take advantage of the early game. EU did in both games

CLG got outplayed and outpicked. I think this was a good eye-opener for CLG, hopefully they practice more and take their competition more seriously.

Practice against who? They already stomp every other team on US servers so they don't exactly get much practice there.

The problem is no one on us runs the gay ass tp bd strat. Its effective, but it doesnt work well in solo q cuz it requires so much practice and coordination. For eu, where its my understanding that ranked 5s are still played, it is possible to get that practice. But on us, ranked 5s is dead. So no way to do strategies like that.

No, plenty of teams run BD strats, it's just CLG adapted poorly and they know better in retrospect.

Just to briefly highlight their mistakes, Chauster said it was a bad choice for HS to insist on running Cho in a 1v2 lane. CLG likes the roaming meta but Cho in a dedicated 1vDPS+Babysit Support is giving CLG a really weak solo.

I remember SaintVicious going over how they thought they would beat Euros by running a double stun tanky lane bot vs their Carry/Support meta. Like running a taric/sion and how they could have just beasted down the squishiness of a caitlyn/janna.

Not sure why they aren't trying that vs the eu meta.

So true, so true...

The old patch with HoG didn't help either.

It actualy did help CLG out since they went for the tanky setup the favours the old HoG over the new one.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

CLG got outplayed overall, but I wouldn't discount the ping issue. How often do you see Jiji miss Anivia walls on his stream? In this game, his walls against TF mid when he was trying to harass kept being slightly late.
Zero fighting.

I don't think CLG completely stomps every other team on the US (didn't they lose to TSM a couple weeks ago?). If they were really serious about the competition they'll actually take time to try to set up scrims against other US teams and practice against various strategies. It's not like EU strategies were completely unexpected; everyone and their moms know that EU likes to run carry/support bottom lane and know the type of heros they like to run. It's not hard to say "Hey TSM, try using this strategy against us in a scrim".

I was thinking the same thing. I have never seen jiji miss so many walls. He's could possibly be best anivia in the world and it seemed like all his walls missed by like one pixel.

Apparently jiji was talking in IRC and wasn't making any excuses. He said they just plain sucked today.

I've noticed that CLG tends to not play anything but big tournaments. Not taking advantage of things like Go4LoL which happen every week is a great way to rust your team.
