At a .25 level of significance, the model concludes (two sided) that there is a difference between the US win rate and the EU win rate at the same ELO. Just curious, why a .25 level of significance, isn't that frikkin huuge? | ||

Yes, a .25 level of significance is pretty unusual for a statistics test. But its not huge like you say it is, in fact it is used fairly commonly in areas where precision is as needed, such as healthcare. Even if it is a poor alpha value, the alternate conclusion would be that it is impossible to refute any difference between 1450 US Elo and 1450 EU Elo. Either way, Shikyo's wrong. I could've had a smaller level, sure. But I would have to collect a lot more data (to increase n, the sample size, on my results). and quite frankly all of the data would have further demonstrated trend wise (as people in the US in the 1450 elo bracket typically have around a 5:3 win/loss ratio while players in the EU typicall had around a 5:4 win loss ratio). And if you don't think its rigorous enough I welcome you to run the test for me. You'll need around 40 or so samples from each side at least, but closer to 350. Enjoy. | ||

I suck ass at math, I just remember from my exams about 5 weeks ago that 0.05 or 0.10 were more common. I don't believe the whole EU r bettar hype, and I definately am in no position to comment on most people's flaws, so I try to refrain from doing so.
