i was talking to someone and got curious whether HoN had a WCG. so i googled "HoN WCG" and here's what popped up: linky honestly, that's actually a REALLY accurate description of what happened. the only thing left out was the fact that servers were at their most unstable state ever during the tournament and Marcou was always nowhere to be found. it may be hard to believe but at one point in my life i was happy and enjoyed playing this game.

"You only play one champ well, everyone knows you're the doublelift of Singed" Don't troll Elementz if you don't want mega hardcore rage coming your way, I guess. edit: now he's on facebook trashing Dyrus.

Dyrus was talking about recruiting Doublelift/Lapakaa/Westrice to Dan Dinh's team to compliment him and Salce yesterday. And while I am fond of human Eeyore, I do wonder the possibilities of putting together a team were everyone is so good with just one hero you can't ban them all without leaving op champs.

Haha you got me started again. /rant incoming. Well first off RIOT showed some ridiculously blatant favoritism. For example, all questions about the tournament were direct to Riot_Marcou. Unfortunately, the only way the LoL client lets you chat with someone is by friending them. Marcou decided it was a smart idea not to friend every player in the tourney and instead to pick and choose who to friend. I literally thought he was just never on until one day I asked Elementz (not a team captain btw, iirc not even a starter atm) a question and he replied "Hold up one sec, let me ask Marcou he's on". Secondly, WCG 1 was run by the community and not by RIOT. They literally threw a bracket into the ring and were just like "yeah you guys sort this out yourselves". Luckily most people knew each other so it wasn't too hard but occasionally the random team would be impossible to contact. It would lead to hours upon hours setting up a match, getting 5 from each team on (whoever was available btw, not the optimal team), only to see a popup that said "Servers going down for maintenance, 10 minutes". For ~4 weeks, you literally had to be on-the-clock at all times in order to prevent your team from being magically disqualified. Alienware was going on at the same time and they had a 10000x better scheduling system. Prizes weren't announced until after the tournament had gone to Top4 or something and honestly a lot of us would have played differently if we realized the payouts were so sick. We may not have won it all but there would definitely have been less crazy builds being seen (i.e.double-snowball-pantheon vs AoN). Finally, the Hackedshot incident was probably some of the biggest bullshit I have ever seen. Some guy (singular, not plural) who wasn't even a known player managed to get into Hotshot's account. It wasn't even some Matrix type of hacking shit either. He literally clicked "I forgot my password", called HS's mom about the answer to the secret question, realized that all of HS's accounts had the same password, profited. When Hackedshot logged on, ODonnell, Finkill, TheOddOne, and someone else decided to do a normal premade with him because nobody really like Hotshot in the first place so why not get some lulz. As a result of playing one innocent game (where absolutely 0 harm was done) they all got banned for a convenient 2 weeks (aka duration of WCG). TreeEskimo, L0CUST, myself and others tried to get the ban delayed because it was absolutely ridiculous that something so innocent could literally shut down multiple WCG runs (and also clear a path to the top for CLG). But of course Pendragon would have none of it because nobody messes with HS while RIOT has his back. The funniest thing about that whole incident was that the tournament players who saw it happen were all like because it was so retarded. But if you logged onto the official LoL servers all the community members were like SERVES THEM RIGHT NOBODY MESSES WITH HOTSHOT. After WCG, so many players retired (myself semi-included), likely due to the ridiculous and hellish experience RIOT gave us for those few weeks. There was a time, long long ago, when I used to love this game.

He did a great job on organizing how teams get to qualify for dreamhack.
