also, hai EZPZ! welcome back glad to see you're mad as always! mb you should take a chill pill and go to allmydads.com What elitism? The fact that some players look down on trolling? Sure, some of you (guitar specifically included) find humor and amusement out of trolling normals and whatnot. That's your slice of pie but I find nothing productive from it, at least from a self-improvement standpoint. I just can't help but laugh when anyone calls any part of TeamLiquid elitist. This is a professional StarCraft forum. It's bound to attract a lot of "tryhard" players, present party included. But I wouldn't say I go out of my way to bash what trolls in LP do. As for EzPz, you two have personal issues, hardly reflective of anyone else in TL. no, i understand looking down on trolling it's the "omg all these random players that AREN'T EVEN REGISTERED TEAMLIQUID MEMBERS are in our channel!!! wtf! this LEAGUE OF LEGENDS CHANNEL is for STARCRAFT PLAYERS ONLY!" just kinda makes me roll my eyes. who cares if they're bad, more people in channel = more people to play with, and this is just a game at heart. also reading the "should TL add a top player LoL stream to the site" thread... i wasn't sure if i should lol at the fact that people were saying "the mods would never approve this... they don't want to EXPAND the site and reach out to a bigger audience!" (because not only does that not make any sense, but i don't know how you'd get to be a mod/admin of a website if you're not interested in growing your userbase), OR if i should lol at the fact that the mods/admins DON'T want to expand the site because that's just trite and ezpz and i don't have personal issues he just doesn't like me \o/
Well then, I guess I misinterpreted what you were saying but that is still not elitism.
About the douchebags who think LiquidParty is some kind of privileged channel, they should get a clue. It's an unmoderated channel, anyone can join. I think it's cool that LP has probably one of the largest idle player count in LoL (on par with reddit's channel). Bigpros like Elementz can hang out there (silently or not) if they want. Smallpros and newbs as well. The fact that we were able to get someone like LoCi on board and contributing, makes me optimistic about an open door policy.
As for having [LoL] tag added to the streams, I'm going to side with the TL Admins on this one. I'm a big LoL proponent now. I only spectator SC2, don't even play. I'm all for pushing to have a bigger and better LoL community here on TeamLiquid. It's why I spend the time I do on the guides and sticky in this subforum. But TL is SC first and foremost. The admins were kind enough to give us our own public subforum where we can run things. I'd like to think that we have a nice little bubble here that TL has provided for us and I would rather not encroach on areas that are traditionally for SC. We can get our name out there on our own, if we wanted. I personally don't think it's necessary for us to have LoL anywhere on TL's front page.
Besides, vodoo has done a fucking amazing job collecting and listing all the good LoL streams on the CLG site. The "LoL featured stream or alternative!" thread is pretty moot imo.

I agree with some of Neo's views on this. I don't really know if I can consider myself a true TLer. Sure I watch Starcraft 2, I watch Day9 Dailies, etc., however I don't actually play Starcraft 2 much anymore. Fortunately I had known about this site and the strict moderating beforehand, and I would prefer to consider myself not an asshole. Hopefully I haven't caused any issues when posting here.
The problem is that not everyone that comes here from a stream will be polite and kind. I also think it's important to remember that this is a Starcraft 2 community. They were kind enough to give us our own sub-forum, but when you get a ton of people coming over here that don't understand what TL is about and how strict the moderating is here, I foresee a lot of problems to be honest. While growing is always good, you don't want this forum to turn into the LoL general forums. I don't want to step on anyone from Team Liquid's toes. These are their forums, not ours. This is our game, not theirs. We should be careful about what kind of crowd we attract.
"I personally don't think it's necessary for us to have LoL anywhere on TL's front page."
I 100% agree with this. In fact it might even be better to make the LoL forum even harder to find haha.

^--- what these guys said
It doesn't seem wise to make a push to get liquid lol to be a featured part of TL. I think liquid lol is in a pretty good place.
Rotating the channel once every couple months or so might be a benefit though. Right now what we have is this split where people come to liquidparty, but they don't get directed to the forums or aren't interested in them. The forums are great because they're subject to tl moderation and the harsh judgements of mob rule, so it's like a filter or vetting process.
It's also important because having newbies join is good (let's just say I'm not #1 player myself), but if they aren't hooked up with the forums, they're going to learn at the same rate as the average lol player... which is pretty abysmal. So you end up with a bunch of people whose abilities are just stagnating, TL attracts a crowd that is pretty interested in improvement so that doesn't mesh.

So as a general question when is a good time to pick up a veil on ranged carries? I only recently started trying to play carries and I don't know when is a good time to put off more damage in favor of a banshee's.
For example; I'm playing Caitlyn, if I want to get say boots, IE, PD, and BV when in that build would you guys suggest getting it. I know it's kind of situational based on if you are getting owned but it seems like not starting it reactionarily<-- (made up word) would be better.

lol nice troll guys. its always sweet if you get your smurf names to match your trolling.
as for TL elitism, i always valued the fact that TL had relatively mature population compared to some of the other gaming forums. thats why i come here. im with previous people in that ive stopped playing SC2, but i still watch videos and day9s(cause hes a BAMF).
and keep in mind when this subforum was created fakesteve responded to our questions about making the forum more accessible(link in sidebar) by saying he didnt want LoL to attract people to TL. the LoL subforum was made for TLers who play LoL not randoms that want a competitive LoL forum.

well, it is really situational....
if you're deadset on those items, I guess I would generally get IE + Zeal and then make my BV before finishing PD.

the general rule I follow is that I never spend more than about 6k on major offensive items without starting a ga or bv. it's all situational ofcofcofc but for me that's the most you can spend on damage stats

Ideally you realize that X champion is going to be able to hurt you a few minutes from now, and start building the appropriate items. Check out the enemies' items, their levels, cs and of course KDA to get some hints. For example if that Anivia is about to finish a major AP item, get a Negatron. Another factor is your tanks/the enemy assassins/anti carries. If you have this Shen who has always done a great job keeping enemies off of you, you can invest more into offense. If you are not being protected well, get defense earlier. If you are far ahead, seal the deal by getting some defense so nobody can break your streak.
In an average game, you want at least Boots + 4-5k gold in offensive items before you get defense on a decently farmed carry. Especially try to finish a major offensive item first. So if you go for IE, try to finish that. Most other items are cheaper and thus allow you to be more flexible.

For whatever it's worth, on Caitlyn, I prefer to have just zerker's greaves for AS. I like IE -> LW as my offensive core to make the most of her Q and R.

Nah I wasn't dead set on those item it was just an example. USnip put it a bit better with how much gold he would put towards offense before going defense. I've usually been getting a BF item (still tinkering with all of them) and boots into negatron, mainly b/c I've been running into a lot of ap mids so of course it would vary but I was kinda curious if there were any trends. Thanks for the input.

Why don't we just have the other channel be liquidparty?
|
Iiquidparty with an uppercase i. make it confuse the shit out of stream viewers.
Also should i migrate to the us server? getting back up to 30 will be hell, but i get the feeling us is way more competetive compared to eu.

I always find games so fucking boring if you are like 13-3 in team kills and they won't surrender because people are so dumb and prefer to play a horribly lost game than playing a new one.

Because it's nowhere near as clever as 'White-Ra's Face' (is EVERYWHERE)
and... my suggestion to start another channel has little to do with elitism (I barely even play this game) and mostly with wanting a chill place to hang with decent people. We're going to have to make another room anyways once we hit the 200 cap.

i think if we start a new channel it should be "Guitar's Indei Music Hangout Ft. TeamLiquid" and we can talk about indei music heroes like kirk cobain and gabe grohl and other voices of the indei generation
