Is the best option really to just throw out the VP, kill one/two and then back out allowing the rest of your team to go ham as the opposing team saves CC for you? And does anyone have any good VODs for late-game (lvl 20+) Zeratul? Basic rule for late game is to either initiate with VP, or wait for the fight to start before engaging. Regardless of what you do, you'll want to save Blink as an escape. It is not uncommon at all for me to completely disengage from fights and re-stealth before moving back in. Zeratul doesn't really need to be a sustained presence. He just needs to ensure that he kills at least one enemy hero.

The only map where I don't like him is Haunted Mines. Range damage/siege comps are the name of the game there. Still, you may want to take him anyway if the enemy team has Jaina, Kael, or some other easily slaughtered glass cannon.

1: regen master 4: focused attack (recently buffed from 50% to 75%) 7: follow through (same, from 25% to 40%) 10: VP 13: wormhole 16: rending cleave or double bombs 20: rewind Double Bombs seems to activate Follow Through twice, so it should be better... but the rotation is slower, not to mention that a double skillshot isn't the best for garbage players like me. So I'll stick to Rending Cleave for a few games. Either way, the burst is insane. On the other hand, without defensive talents I seem to die way too much before Wormhole.

Zeratul @ Lvl 20 AA Dmg: 294 Cleave: 415 Spike: 500 If you take gathering power your best case scenario damage bonus on abilities is (500 + 250 + 415) * .15 = ~174 bonus damage. This would be double bombs + cleave. But if you take focused attack you will get 294 * .75 = 220 bonus damage. Gathering Power only seems viable if you're going all out cleave and/or take rewind at 20 to double the bonus

Some math: Zeratul @ Lvl 20 AA Dmg: 294 Cleave: 415 Spike: 500 If you take gathering power your best case scenario damage bonus on abilities is (500 + 250 + 415) * .15 = ~174 bonus damage. Gathering Power only seems viable if you're going all out cleave and/or take rewind at 20 to double the bonus I always take focused attack now. Gathering Power is basically obsolete unless you're doing a Cleave build. I'll be updating this guide sometime soon given that the build and talent information is out of date.

Got stomped a few times by one of the top abathur mains on NA (Mill, 4000MMR) a few times with a zeratul on his team. You know what they say...if you can't beat em, join em. Thanks for the guide man. I hate playing with that guy. He has this annoying as shit symbiote shield-spam style where he always drops symbiote within seconds of putting it on someone, which of course creates all sorts of confusion.

I often times do that as well. It makes for a shorter cooldown on shield and spikes.

Yes for ganks you want to stay on someone. But for team fights I often times hop in/out of people to maximize the AOE damage and the shield absorb.

I always play vs him, never with him IIRC. All I know is I had the misfortune of being malfurion the first game I played vs him and zeratul just dumpstered me regardless of my positioning.
