not for a long time. It wasn't until a number of years into wc3:tft and a number of patches later did BM become the standard opener

BM first was by no means ever considered a niche strat. ever. averaged across an entire map pool, i doubt it ever dropped below 25%.

Fine, Illidan first as Night Elf then? I'm just trying to say that a lot of new players pick 'cool' heroes despite those not being the best choices for their skillset / situation.

Blademaster first was very niche up until .17 when WW was given the ability to walk through units
You may be thinking of Beastmaster as opposed to Blademaster in the early days of Tft orc

For the longest time, people actually considered the Blademaster to be a joke. Orcs almost exclusively went with Far Seer first. Then, later, at around ~1.17/1.18, people realised critical strike was OP, and the BM largely outclassed the FS.

Demon Hunter (Illidan) was not a niche pick however. It was THE most picked Night Elf hero, by far. For so long, people started with him as a first hero. Still do. He's very solid.

Not sure it has much to do with the thread, but Farseer and Illidan were the most often picks for those races...except shortround, dude seemed to always start keeper and go straight expo start...

It's been a looong time since I played WC3. I just remember being terrible with Illidan, but anyways didn't mean to drag the thread so far offtopic down memory lane (interesting though it is).

I've seen some lilis do well too in fairly high level games. Still, will people pick her in a competitive game ? No. If you want to support: uther tassadar rehgar brightwing all are beasts.

She is definitely not Uther, but she has a very noticeable presence in teamfights with her healing. I've felt compelled to save stuns for her in recent games.

I think you can get a pretty good idea of who is good by looking at Zuna's and iDream's lists. As for Zuna's list, I'm higher on Zeratul, Stitches, Abathur, and Azmodan than he is (to the extent that he's not).

Seems like I randomly got 'invited' to the game, no mail or anything, just added to my bnet launcher. So ehm, how is the game with the graphics etc. Is it like LoL or maybe Dota for requirements or beyond that? Depends on my settings obviously, but my PC ain't getting younger. Will find out when I attempt to play some later anyway.

It runs on the starcraft2 engine. If you can run sc2 fine it should be okayish. Game is still alpha though.

Yes I agree with you. I'd also add that nova is too low on both tier list. She's still a major pain in the ass when played well especially in solo queue.

The game is heavy on memory, 32-bit systems suffer a bit.

I got my fucking key!

A bit sad that the best bundle (variety) is not in the shop currently.
