People should actually play campaign or at least read the Warcraft wiki before making such stupid judgments. Metzen is a GREAT lore architect.
The story is good enough to make a good movie, and 100 million is enough to cast and film it well. what you underestimate is how much WoW nerds think they know about lore anyone who played wow without playing atleast wc3 first know nothing about lore. I forget who i had ask me why the scourge suddenly joined the horde or something like that.

The Forsaken played a key role in WC3 as backstab attackers against the Scourge IIRC- got rid of the dreadlords (and kept one as a pet, lulz) and at the same time killed the last human forces of Lordaeron

Again, what they think they know. I played all WC games including WoW up to Sunwell (not proud of that) and I can't count the number of times I've heard someone say complete nonsense about WC3-> WoW lore

wtf does that even mean pretty sure we've all seen movies... I meant only people should post who have at least some lvl of good taste in movies, despite not being 100% serious since im not a censorship nazi
Perhaps you have played too much Warcraft if you think taste has "levels".

lol ^^ I haven't played WC3 since shortly after it was released.
I guess I didn't phrase it too well and shouldn't have used the word taste, but the way I see it is that, just like with music - for a large part it is just all about your personal taste (this time I'm using it correctly ^^) - which is a subjective thing you can't really argue about.
But then there's also a lot of relatively objective things - for example if it's a movie/song that is original or if it's just copying something that has already been done 10000 times before. Just like I find it pretty obvious that LOTR has way more plot than 300. You could argue that 300's story is just a lot cooler or whatever (I actually enjoyed that movie, despite it being very "light" entertainment) but you can't possibly say that it has more story than LOTR (And btw I read the graphic novel too)

I believe taste is not subjective, its related to peoples capacity to understand and objectively analize content + prejudices.

Imbalanced maps ftl.
As for this movie, I see no reason to write it off without first knowing more about it, unlike so many people here seem to have done. It's true that just about every video game to movie port has been a failure, but I do have some faith in Blizzard. If any group is capable of breaking that trend, they are the ones.

Speaking of bad game movies, which in your guys opinion has been the BEST of video game movies? Personally I think the 1st MK movie was probably the least horrible of the bunch.
The big problem for game movies though is people at this stage really don't know how to make them well. I think they have trouble balancing making a movie for people who like the game and people who haven't so they try to do too much and end up ruining it. Also I don't think people who make movies take them seriously so they just put out crap knowing that at least game fans will go out to see it so they get bad actors and writers with low budgets. This movie has hope if they get enough money for the project and attract some talent.

I would totally be up for it if were all CGI, just like the Final Fantasy movie. Blizzard's CGI cinematics are better done than most movies.
Regardless of how good it is, this thing is going to make shitloads of money. All of the merchandising tie-ins, the collector DVD, etc.

I dont think there was a good movie, based on a video game so far. I mean like properly great. But I guess Silent Hill was the best effort so far, followed by the first Resident Evil (mostly because of the soundtrack). Doom's FPS scene was so good, but other than that most of the movies based on games are total crap. Alone in the dark comes on top of my head - it was simply bad on a whole new level.

I hope it's like rambo but with the blademaster just killing everything.
