Absolutely not. Realize that competitive gaming can exist outside of Korea, and even somehow without 12 hours of practice per day. Even with horrifically imbalanced games at that. She is obviously progamer, and at that, what, the 2nd most accomplished (as far as winnings go) in america? Oh well maybe 3rd given that thresh won a ferrari playing q2. That's great and all, but my point wasn't that guitar hero is the definition of competition. My point is that you're being a dick, which you're proving more and more with each post. Is he not allowed to have (what seems to be) an educated opinion on something just because the person of the opposite contention is here and was on a show? Come on now.

I will say that this statement: It still blows my mind that a guitar hero player could get sponsors, in that who would waste the time/effort supporting someone playing pretend guitar as their day job. is really stupid. I can say the same thing about Quake, as in, "Who would sponsor someone who spends their whole day practicing shooting someone else in the face with a railgun?" But I wouldn't say that, because it's stupid, just like your argument is.

What product can you possibly plug to make someone better at GH? The reason they do it is exposure, and he's arguing that those other games should get more exposure. I'm curious how many CS/Q3 players they really tried to tap for this thing. Does anyone believe someone like ZeRo4 wouldn't have made it?
And he's not simply talking about whether the game sucks, it's level of difficulty (are you about to start defending MBS for competitive play here?) I'm willing to bet any serious CS/Quake player could become dominant at Rainbow 6 if they actually cared enough to install it.

I suppose I should tone it down, but my problem isn't really with the opinion so much as how it's stated.
StarSlay3r comes on the forum and lists of a paragraph of accomplishments in various games / genres (the kind of thing a WCG ultimate gamer show would be interested in) and she gets told that "doesn't mean shit."
I completely agree with him that the gamers weren't chosen on deep enough games. I personally think that they couldn't have picked a more terrible game to choose from to represent fighters than Dead or Alive (the game is to most fighters what Supreme Commander is to Starcraft), but to insult the person for it seems over the line.

That is his opinion and it's nothing personal against her, it's his assessment of what she plays, and I think by now she shouldn't give a fuck, like how WC3 players don't give a fuck if SC players call them noobs. I don't think she needs you to jump in on her behalf but I guess it was because it was his manner that offended you. What I'm trying to say is, there is really no need to silence him just because he is stating his opinion, he is just as free to do so as you, her, or I am.

Yeah, I guess I should apologize as well. I reacted too much to his post. But it was a really mean post, to be fair: it cast all of Ciji's accomplishments as "worth shit" in a couple of sentences. OK, fine, you're perfectly able to argue that those accomplishments aren't worth much compared to being WCG USA champion of a hardcore sport, like INcontroL was. But he didn't argue the point at all. He simply stated it, in a bitterly sarcastic way.

Otherwise you are just diving into the shitfest if you think of his posts are insulting. Like I said I'm sure most gamers of higher caliber would be judged by people who don't play those games, it's kind of like religion where you just keep doing what you're doing and arguing with anyone that you are right and they are wrong will go nowhere.

recommended to a lot of my friends
other thoughts: competition seems really lax... the fragdolls suck at shooters and the rest of these guys I've never heard of in their fields... Geoff's resume is the only one with national titles on it?!? have to double check but god why are there no PC games????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
edit: I think Geoff's only competition is Robert and Swoozie the rest seem amateur I have over 20 first place wins in 3 genres and multiple top 5 finishes in 3 genres as well. over 30 top 3 wins in total, state finals for 3 games, nationals for 3. I'm not too shabby. Calyber (frag doll) is national rainbow 6 champ and jamal won 3rd place at the iron man of gaming last year. (a competition with multiple games across different genres and different platforms) Top 12 were selected out of hundreds of gamers nationwide... so everyone scored well on the overall gaming tests we had to do.
can you elaborate on these tests you mentioned?
and... to be honest its just WCG's or Sci-Fi's fault, for your profiles theres only a brief mention of what the folks did so I apologize but won't take back that the fragdolls suck
i've personally lan'd them on 1.6 and a friend dominated them on vegas
and this is what I mean: + Show Spoiler +Taken directly from WCG
ACCOMPLISHMENT: Competed in several tournaments for Dance Dance Revolution, Soul Calibur 2, Need for Speed: Carbon, Fight
Night: Round 3, Tekken 5 and has taken home several victories
Most well-known for winning Guitar Hero 1, 2 & 3 tournaments

Wow, I am really learning quite a bit about console gaming on a more serious level and the show was quite entertaining too, although we need more Geoff! :D Also, props to Starslay3r for being on TL.net <3. It is good to hear things from the participants themselves - quite insightful in comparison to pointless flaming/arguing.
But sucks for iNc that he is not a mechanical but a strategic player or he would have owned in GH with little practice. Imagine the possibilities of 400 apm with flabbergasting hand-eye coordination...

How is being able to make 400 actions a minute useful when the game FORCES you to make exactly 150?! :p In GH you have to hit the notes when they come up, you can't just spam.

I just watched the first episode on youtube, and it was quite entertaining hehe
good luck Geoff and Ciji (where is this nickname coming from? Is this even a nickname? )
