He plays console, but mostly fps, fighting, or like, rpg's for fun. These have all been super rhythm heavy or, like Amy said, with random peripherals. None of his strengths came up in the first four. He hates rhythm games usually, so I'd say he did pretty well to stay in as long as he did. It's a shame they picked off some of the good fps players so early...I would have loved to see Alyson in Halo. I was about to ask... what games (outside of SC) does Geoff even play? You say he plays those console games for fun... does he play any of them competitively? Another thing I was wondering: did Geoff know the games that were going to be played in advance? If so, I see no excuse for practicing every game there. It doesn't matter if you don't like rhythm games, aren't good at them, or whatever, you're in a competition against others to win in the games. I know if I was selected for the show, I would have practiced every game there - and even if I didn't know the games, I would practice a wide variety. About this show and e-sports, etc... I think the show will encourage some of the viewers to be more interested in professional gaming. I don't see this show as being detrimental to pro-gaming at all. I think too many of you are far too elitist about all this.
Tekken, Gears of War 2, Halo... basically any fps and fighting games are his faves, but he hasn't played any of them competitively thus far. Just like just about everyone in the house, he has his pro game that he devotes most of his time to, and then plays the rest for fun. (He just beat Resident Evil 5 and is replaying Final Fantasy 12 as I type lol) It has been cool though, I asked him about this and he said that, now that he has played with some of these guys, he is getting invites to some fighting tournaments, etc. (I guess after some practice he ended up being just about the best PvP Virtua Fighter in the house.)
About practicing, he didn't know until the day before whether he would even be on the show. He was given notice and flew out the next day. lol. Beyond that, he was given a list of 15 possible games to practice, but didn't know which ones would actually be played in competition.
I think you are totally right about the positive attention. Many people don't even know the pro-gaming scene exists. I have seen this getting people interested and involved that otherwise would never have been. Many of our friends who are watching the show are gaming more and starting to follow the pro scene. They don't care that this show may not have crowned the all around best gamer ever. It's still fun to watch and awakens them to the excitement of high-level gaming competition.

anyway i could sort of tell that geoff was going to get eliminated.. he was talking pretty often in the beginning of the episode: a bad sign. same thing with alyson.. i hope the producers stop doing that else it's like spoiling it while you're watching, blah.
edit: btw what's up with random people beating ciji at rhythm games? she didn't even get top 3, and lost to like chelsea lol ;(

Swoozie tried to gain respect by taking an easy victory now (when he knows it will be a hard one later on any other game) and making a rather easy decision for the elimination. The fact that Jamal caught that right away and everyone else thought he was just being a good christian or whatever increases my first thought that Jamal is a gamer and should win.
Then later Swoozie even admitted in the interview that he did it to gain trust and shit. It was a smart move in the game, and that's all. He should get no credit or special treatment for doing this.
And what the fuck was up with Ciji, at first I thought she was going to go into elim with inc and just throw it so he doesn't lose. But then she said she just wanted to be the last one to see him or some shit. What kind of bail out is that? If she wanted him to really stay she would hope that amy or someone equally bad at dancing would face him.
Not to mention that she said she was gonna throw the iso challenge in the first place so he woudlnt go to the elim anyways.

Incontrol I don't get the logic of saying things like you would never put yourself in the elim challenge ever and doing everything possible to win on your own merit etc. But then you say you denied Ciji to throw a game for you and ignore the alliances etc. You are obviously not playing to win here, especially since it's your weakest game and you need all the help you can get. Did you basically just concede?

Honestly it was really smart of swoozie and he knows this. Him and geoff are the only real gaming talents in that house, and if swoozie hadn't taken him down now, geoff was prob very likely to win (Im sure swoozie knows this from observing geoffs levelheaded pro-gamer composer in the house)
ha my g/f gave me so much shit for watching this show, but she was kind of bummed when he lost because "he was the only normal one".
So, does geoff even know who wins?
To me, the part that really sucks is not being able to see geoff play real games =[ (i see they are playing some fps on console against each other next episode)

can you imagine the 35 minute elimination game? there is no way they would have the game on there. its too advanced. and, its not on the list. i dont remember where- but i saw it and SC isnt on there, for obvious reasons.

Why not try convincing the house to send the annoying PMS girl to battle if they wanted to be nice to Geoff. And in the end it was her fault Geoff went lol since she betrayed their plan. I'll admit it was a bad plan and against the spirit of the competition, but still.

How could anyone not see that as trying to snipe Geoff so he'd never get a chance to play the games he's really good at? Political wise it works out too, but Swoozie didn't even consider to play any of the weak players against him... Geoff did really good for someone who was up against the odds, but it still wasn't even close. His opponent would have had to choke with the types of people he was gonna be against. The only player who really helped him was Chelsea (was that her?), while everyone else just had fun in the hottub... For people who act like they care so much, they totally left Geoff out to dry when it looked like he was done.
That said... He's out now, so there's not too much point in watching the rest of the show.... Hahahaha.
