Also, I've heard somewhere, in Arab countries shoe-throwing or other things to do with shoes have incredibly strong cultural connotations to them.

I don't think he knew what the dude's reasoning was behind his claim. I don't either. All the guy did was...throw a shoe at him. That's exactly what I think whenever I see protesters, like when protesters picket outside abortion clinics with those nasty pictures of aborted fetuses. They're also just throwing shoes. That's why I thought what he said was on the mark.

Maybe it has something to do with your invasion of his country under false pretenses, destroying untold amounts of infrastructure or killing hundreds of thousands of people at least. Nahhhh, couldn't be that.

Nahhhh, couldn't be that. I guess that shoe thrower speaks for the entire country. You know, like the 5 million Iraqis who risked life and limb to slip a piece of paper inside a ballot box for the first time in their lives. I think they'd side with him. Yep. Anyways, the guy should be throwing shoes at I dunno, the people who are actually blowing themselves up in market places and stuff. ETA: I would throw stinky socks at Bush however for sticking with Rumsfeld and his failed "light foot print" strategy for so long.

I think they'd side with him. Yep. He doesn't speak for the entire country. But he can speak for those who have lost family, and he can speak for the dead. This aside, the assumption you're making that voted = supports American invasion is a pretty shaky one. Anyways, the guy should be throwing shoes at I dunno, the people who are actually blowing themselves up in market places and stuff. Who's fault is it if Franz the baker was incinerated by a nalpalm strike? Hitler's, or Churchill's?
