Not for any jackass who is so emotionally attached to soemthing that they can't live without it. Sure, it's just.. you can't clone individual body parts. They don't grow in vats, regardless of what many games would have you believe. Though if you know that and still insist on cloning "body parts", namely cloning whole beings and cutting them up for body parts, then that's gross and horrible.

some decadent fatass whores like the one in the picture may do such things but you don't get the very same dog back. you also wouldn't get the very same child back. the mind/soul/whatevertocallit is not automatically copypasted along when you make a copy of the body. the existence of your previous dog/child has vanished and you would only replace it with another being that will function pretty similarly but is not a fucking resurrection. cloning dead loved ones is for the weak of mind. why not have different children which can also be loved? you only help yourself by creating such a clone, the dead ones remain dead.

I agree with the person that said we should only clone body parts for medical reasons.

No, cloning doesn't only refer to growing a complete new organism. There is also cell cloning, tissue cloning, and organ cloning. Stem cell research is cloning research. (And for the record, the most interesting and promising area of stem cell research is adult stem cells harvested non-harmfully from living donors, not embryonic stem cells harvested from aborted fetuses. Neither kind was banned in the USA, but federal funding was withheld from research which required new aborted fetuses - federal funding is still granted to embryonic stem cell research based on embryonic stem cell lines harvested before the funding ban was put in place.)

And you can clone individual body parts. And the most interesting area is probably undifferentiating differentiated cells, since it's both ethically viable and results in clones that share the same DNA as the person who you might be trying to give therapy to.

Basically you give scientists a tooth and they break it open and take some stem cells from inside. They then put these stem cells in the testes of a mouse and wait a while. Then they kill the mouse and harvest your new sperm. Mix it with an egg and viola, the genetic child of an infertile man. Think about how huge the ability to have children is to an infertile man. That's how valuable stem cell research is. so basically, this is the result + Show Spoiler + ![]()
