don't see the logic in doing that
some decadent fatass whores like the one in the picture may do such things
but you don't get the very same dog back. you also wouldn't get the very same child back. the mind/soul/whatevertocallit is not automatically copypasted along when you make a copy of the body. the existence of your previous dog/child has vanished and you would only replace it with another being that will function pretty similarly but is not a fucking resurrection.
cloning dead loved ones is for the weak of mind. why not have different children which can also be loved?
you only help yourself by creating such a clone, the dead ones remain dead.

Death is a natural process in life. People should learn to accept it. They might want to clone their dead dogs, cats, children whatever to cheat the life cycle or death but I think in the end they're only cheating themselves. Some people might say it's not fair that they lost their loved ones but that's exactly life for you. It's brutal, the way it was made to be. Nature is red in tooth and claw.

I agree with the person that said we should only clone body parts for medical reasons.

5 genetic copies were born? So she's keeping one as a pet and the other four get killed? Because I don't imagine she'll want five of the same pet. Seems pretty hypocritical. Maybe they'll just go to a dog shelter though so she can replace hers if it dies again. There again, in this country pit bulls are routinely destroyed by the police for being born killers who we never should have created and should be made extinct.

Don't cloned animals still have a supershort life span? Poor dog.

And you can clone individual body parts.

And the most interesting area is probably undifferentiating differentiated cells, since it's both ethically viable and results in clones that share the same DNA as the person who you might be trying to give therapy to.

One of the more interesting uses of stem cell research is a surprising cure for infertility in men. Basically you give scientists a tooth and they break it open and take some stem cells from inside. They then put these stem cells in the testes of a mouse and wait a while. Then they kill the mouse and harvest your new sperm. Mix it with an egg and viola, the genetic child of an infertile man. Think about how huge the ability to have children is to an infertile man. That's how valuable stem cell research is.
