Saw this in today's NYT:

So far the two laboratories have produced a total of more than 50 cloned dogs, and more are in the works. While most of these were produced in the line of research, an increasing number are being cloned commercially, including a pit bull named Booger.
Last week, two years after Booger died of cancer, five genetic copies were born. His American owner, Bernann McKinney, who met the clones Tuesday, had paid Lee's team $50,000 to replicate the dog she said once saved her from a savage mastiff.
"When Booger was dying, his eyes locked on mine," McKinney said. "And he told me with his eyes, 'Don't be sad, because I am going to see you again."'

That doesnt make me laught. It is a serious ethic problem imo. I mean why should we be allowed to do this with dogs and not with humans ?
Next step: clone you dead children ?
This is like the fucking whiners who play hardcore @ diablo2 and try to find progs or to ask Blizzard to revive their char. Life isnt softcore sry.

these people buying clones are foolish.
while their new dogs may be genetically identical to their old ones, that is all it is. no memories, feelings, etc.
and on top of that, it's not even an identical clone since the mitochondrial dna is diff -_-

The less brains it has the more similar it will be, there is more to clone dogs than humans therefore. Unless you clone smart humans to create a new elite population cloning is not that interesting on humans. Guess that some would pay for baby clones of themselves though, would be perfect for gay couples.

Eh, I don't see the point of cloning. You can't clone a personality, feelings, or memory. But eh, I guess I really don't care if someone feels like spending their 50k on it to make themselves feel better.

if i remember correctly they would have the same personality at birth but their life experience can change it.

Meh... cloning should be limited to certain body parts for medical reasons. Not for any jackass who is so emotionally attached to soemthing that they can't live without it.
