It's getting worse here too though, at quite an alarming rate, for the same bullshit reason: protection from terrorism -> more surveillance etc. The usual crap. - good infrastructure - good legal system, and not many crazy laws - good educational system, very affordable too - good social services - good medical system, good health care, very qualified doctors etc. - qualified employees pretty much everywhere - good living conditions - good food - best(!) beer - nice landscape - not much crime or violence - heavy restrictions on weapon ownership/usage and police violence - strict split between church and politics - not many religious zealots/fools. we're quite down to earth or "scientific" here. something crazy like creationism has no chance of getting big - scientology and other cults aren't big here either... and scientology is watched by the office for the protection of the constitution. scientology also is not considered a religion here (although they always try hard to achieve that status of course). Basically, we pwn them and I'm happy about that because they're dangerous and big in other countries - easy access to other cultures "nearby", openness to other cultures etc. - the best classical composers and great poets/writers have lived here - no speed limit on many motorways (130 km/h just a recommendation). This might change soon though - about stereotypical German qualities: some good ones are true: many people are often on schedule, orderly and thorough. Some bad ones are not true: we do have humor ![]() - good internet access. From Europe I think only Sweden is better off (100mbit not yet cheap and widespread here... but 16mbit or so is already cheap and common). - unusually strong support for Open Source software - no software patent madness (yet) - German is a very expressive and dynamic language. But it's not getting much love. We use a *ton* of English words to make things sound "better" or "more special". For product names, in ads, on flyers/posters, in common slang, in magazines (not newspapers), basically everywhere... and of course in the IT area a hell of a lot English words are being used. I don't care much because I've always liked English, but some who really like the German language are complaining that the language is hurt by this. In France for example it's different, they value their language a lot more and don't want to "dilute" it with English words too much. Anyway, I'm a pragmatic person so I'd prefer if the whole world would just speak one language (English). ![]()

You know what I mean you surly shirley. an actual superstate like USA. Europe would own usa hard imo. But at least we could join together to fight china when the war comes and we would be more effective. Although I would prefer we weren't in the same country as the french.
