I'd like to see some videos of humans actually beating a trained German/Belgian Shephered with no sorts of equipment available. Many of you guys heavily estimate the physics of these dogs when comparing them to MMA fighters. Also I can guarantee you the sort of pain you'll feel when being bit by a dog who has a bite power of between 400-700 lbs is not near what these fighers have experienced before. I'm convinced even they will pass out from the pain itself and definitely won't be able to control the rest of their body while dealing with the dogs jaws that you'll never get loose before the arm is crushed. Sure they can be prepared on many ways for the fight, but it doesn't mean they have some sort of advantage or are even able to put up a good fight.

Dog wins OBVIOUSLY, humans are designed for thinking and animals as much as i LOVE them, are designed for survival. Their teeth will kill you, their claws will as well. We have nothing but our weak arms and weak legs, compaired to a dogs strength. I have seen a german sheperd just completely pull his owner who was a big police officer, and the funnyest and most impressive part, was that i could tell, the german shepherd wasnt even trying.

I am pretty sure most people would get completely owned. Poll results are totally inaccurate.

Dude, a tiger is considerabily larger than your average person and haven't been domesticated for centuries. There's no comparison, it's the largest canivore just after the big bear breeds. :-P

Kinda certain that the whales are the largest carnivores... You would be correct had you added the "land" part - and then again most bears are actually omnivores and off the top of my head I can only really think of the polar bear as a true carnivore.

For some reason I've always wanted to fight a dog...probably not a german shephard though.
I imagine the human would win if they are agile enough to avoid getting their arms lodged between it's teeth.

If spontaneus combat occured, the human would probably lose. Though if it was preplanned and the human got time to read about weak spots on dogs, behaviors etc the human would win.

Basing this on myself since I dont know shit about dogs.

Ok ok
I looked it up (google) and a tiger is indeed alot bigger then a german sheppard (wich is not realy a suprise even to me)
Still i think people underestimate the dog.
The pics on the previous page are a good illustration, and thats from a dog who just aims to take you down, not kill you.

I dunno about fight to the death, but I was attacked by a lot of german shepherds in my days of living in farm country. A long jog generally meant I'd be chased by at least a couple of them at various points.

Eventually my strategy was to take off shirt/jacket and wrap it around one arm. Most of the time the dog would lunge for your most exposed part, so I'd offer my arm and hope to god he'd just get an armful of cloth. Once he bit, I'd try to jam my fingers in his eyes. The few times they actually _got_ my arm, I thought for sure I was going to lose it. Those things are fucking strong.

At that point, they'd often get bored/upset and run back home. After a few episodes like that, I just started carrying a big stick lol. If you poke at a farm dog from 8ft away for a while, he will find something more interesting to do in a hurry haha

If you locked me in a cage with one, I'm pretty sure I'd die. You have no room to maneuver, and if it gets behind you or pull you forward, it's going to go for your throat and then it's over. How are you going to kill it? Choke it out? Good luck...

PS. This is one of the most hilarious threads I've ever read here

.... There's absolutely no possibility for a human who isn't well trained in self defense and really strong to take down a german shepard. And even then it will be really tough. People don't figure how strong dogs are until they see it. Dogs are incredibly underrated, like in movies where they show people running away from them when in reality that's just not possible.

TIL TL poll rendering appears to be specific to poll ID #.

On topic, I could probably beat the dog, but I'd probably be getting an arm or something amputated afterwards. So... lose-lose? :/ Also no guarantee I won't be bleeding my ass to death after the dog is dead, but assuming he doesn't pull a smart predator and just circle while I'm bleeding my ass off I can probably kill it.

dog wins against the average dude. no doubt about it. poll result is actually.... ... weird.
my dad has a police dog and i can tell you this: if this dog is told to kick you in the ass, there´s nothing you can do about it. sure, some guys that are under thie influence of drugs or alcohol sometimes feel the pain a little later, but this dog never lost a fight with a human beeing - never. so if a dog gets the strict order to kill you (which is by the way a prett sick constructed situation by OP), you have not a bit of a chance.
imagine: just a single bite in your face and you are screwed.

Here's what professionals think about it:

http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/HowTo:Win_a_Fight_Against_Your_Dog

Seriously though, my area has a lot of stray dogs, and I have specifically done research on how I can defend myself if attacked. People who train dogs seem to agree that an unarmed (even trained) human has 0 chance against a trained dog. This is because dogs are several times faster that a human, and a trained dog knows where to attack and will immediately throw the human off-balance. If the dog is untrained, it will usually instinctively grab the closest limb which it sees moving. So, if you wrap your arm in some thick fabric, and put it in front of you, the dog will bite on that, and hopefully you'll be able to get on top of the dog and crush it with your knees and elbows.

A lot of ppl in this thread seem to be rether over-confident about their chances vs a dog.

I really doubt that all the training a dog could have would give it any chance vs a massive sweeping kick to the body. Dog has no chance.

It won't receive any massive sweeping kicks to its body. Try to deliver a massive sweeping kick to a body of a human - is the guy just going to stand around waiting for your kick to land?

No, he's going to block with one of his four limbs.

You don't block a kick rofl, you parry it at most.

I'll humor you and ignore that a parry is a type of block.

Where does he say a parry is a block? I can't be bothered watching the whole vod.

Also in muay thai you condition your shins by repeatedly kicking hard objects until it gets stronger. An average person cannot do that kind of block. Do that against someone who does muay thai and your shins will snap in half.

In muay thai you also kick with your shins rather than your ankle because it does more damage. You often see peoples legs snap in half from those types of kicks. The only time you use your ankle is to try and hit thigh or above or put the other player off balance. The reason they don't teach this in other martial arts is because they don't teach shin conditioning.

Also in the second half of the vid he teaches how to counter by simply avoiding the kick which was what I was implying. Most martial arts teach you to simply avoid the attack or parry it, not block it.

You have got to be kidding me. It doesn't say in the video that a parry is a block. I said "I'll humor you and ignore that a parry is a type of block." Then I posted a video demonstrating a martial arts technique in which a man is blocking a kick without parrying. It doesn't freaking matter if its uncommon it completely invalidates what you said. Then you ramble on about a bunch of random facts completely unrelated. You often see legs snap in half from those types of kicks. REALLY? OMG SHOCKER!!!!! Perhaps it's because they're being BLOCKED.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blocking_(martial_arts)

http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/linguistics-and-philosophy/24-241-logic-i-fall-2009/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man

Uh what is your point.

In the common usage of the word, a parry is a deflection to modify the angle of attack so as to put the least amount of resistance to the attack while still being able to nullify it. A block is usually trying to the stop the force dead in its tracks.

Fine I will re-word it, you don't block a kick, you deflect it at most. (conditions apply: you are a muay thai fighter with steel legs)

Its pretty easy to dodge a kick, and you are implying a dog can't?

I own the most massive great dane you've ever seen, but from my experiences wrestling him, I would say I have a fair chance against him. He is extremely strong and if he knew what to do I would stand no chance, but he doesn't have much of a clue.

Ive had to jump inbetween two staffies trying to rip eachother apart before (They have fucking lockjaw) and it was not fucking nice when i got caught by their jaws, the pain was overwhelming, i was pissing with blood even though the dog immediately released when she realised it wasnt the opposite dog, it was horrendous. I spent a night in hospital under observation, had my arm in a sling for a week and it was infected as fuck.

EDIT: It was also literally impossible to prise their jaws apart untill they "released" to gain a better grip on the other. I was practically helpless to stop them other then screaming and shouting, beating the fuck out of them and shoving my hand in their mouthes untill that point.

This is one bite, when the dog was not even aimed at attacking me. My stomach and legs we're also scratched and heavily bruised.

The dog, will win. No questions.

Note: This dog did not mean to attack me, my sister still owns her to this day, we had to part with the 2nd dog as they would fight over food, who was "top dog" and the likes, but she has also gone to a very good home and is fine, both 100% lovely with children and people. The ONLY reason i was hurt is because i literally jumped into it and had my hand in their mouths trying to prise them apart, when it happened prior, one ended up with a hole in her head.
Useless wet fish.

What the...did someone think a tiger would be the same size as a german shephard? The fuck man, some breeds of tiger get to like 600lbs ez.
Anyone who'd vote for human over tiger in a similiar poll is insane haha.

Are we talking about us personally, or any person? Most people would probably die to a single dog because they're generally weak. I have faith that I would simply allow it to rip into me and then put it in a headlock and choke it to death, obviously I would guard my neck but I know I'd be fine. 100 lbs dog pure muscle vs me 240 lbs mostly muscle : D I feel like I'd stand a fairly good chance.

The real question is would anyone survive in a room with a English Mastiff... <---- is a lion hunter in Africa. I had one, it was 6'3 standing on 2 legs the motherfucker was massive...

Let me tell you guys a story.

One day my dog was outside, and I hear "boom" and obviously I'm like holy shit... My dog is on the road, got hit by an 18wheeler going 90kmh, the poor fucker got ran over by an entire side of the truck (that's 9 tires if you're curious) and was howling and crying... Saddest thing I ever saw, we picked it up and ran to our van (or usto have a van before ford focus) and drove about 130 the entire way to the vets, got there and the dog was still conscience and we're like "holy shit it might make it", well we find out it fractured its spine (barely) but it was enough that we had to put it down...

Story to note? That's a big fucking dog, and dangerous if you piss it off.
FoTG fighting!
