I usually start with an easier animal (say a racoon), where people usually say that while a human would definitely win, the racoon would at least draw a good amount of blood. Dogs are good to bring up because there are such a variety in sizes and ferocity. The conversation usually ends with a tiger or bear where people unanimously say we don't stand chance. | ||

Though honestly i feel that if you took a Human with elite fighting skills, and showed them a 15 min video on how dogs like to attack. (which is probably against the rules, but i'm just making a point) I'm confident that those Humans would win very close to 95 percent of the time. I just feel that if an individual isn't blinded by fear, and has some experience fighting, Humans have a lot more options of attack at our disposal. Also if your allowed to repeat the experiment, with an individual who won. I think they would get better and better at exploiting the dogs weaknesses. | ||

I too have mused on the matter. Given my sheer weight, I believe I could win in a straight up fight against a dog, but it is going to be close. Depends if the dog gets me by the throat or not. If it gets a foot, it's over for the poor animal. I was thinking of punching it to the nose and then just putting on my weight onto its spine. Gotta crack. Also, WIll Smith defeated his dog in I am Legend. He got a nice position, though...Rear naked choke is hard to get out of. I find it animals are very hard to control once they start twitching and wiggling. Maybe vs dogs we can use kicks so the dog is not as close to our neck as it wants to? Has anybody tried it? Was it successful? | ||

I just feel sad about the people that are saying that a man would take it easily, dog stands no chance, you just have to kick it. It's not a ball, it moves, your kick will probably miss or just not hit in full force and then when he bites you and shakes you, you're goinng to fight for balance to stay up .. dunno 1v1 an average man ( by average I mean go outside and see how men actually are, gritty, sturdy, merciless) should have it. An average person sitting at his pc most of the day would sadly get his ass ripped off because his kicks wouldn't do any damage. | ||

What most likely happen is that the dog will attack you and bit you in the arm or neck before you can even react. Then you will probably pass out from the pain. Your only chance to win in this position is if you can somehow have a protection to not take damage from the bite and then wrestle him down because hes too dumb to let go. | ||

Yep, but a man trained to kill probably wouldn't have a problem chewing through your average Lassie. Physically, the average grown man is stronger than a dog. I mean in sheer muscles strength. The problem are the jaws. But if you manage somehow to immobilize the jaws, I think you can win. | ||

If the person is large and / or highly athletic with a background in physical sports it's an even fight leaning towards the human. An elite MMA fighter destroys the dog unless it gets really lucky and hits something vital around the neck asap. | ||
