And like I said, they're bugs, whoever gives a damn about this is a major pussy.
You should never look down upon our fellow denizens of planet earth, let alone a sentient being.
Well, whether they're sentient or not is unknown. From what we know, they sense and react much like computers, but they don't feel and don't have awareness.
Do you have any evidence/sources to backup your claims? The feeling of pain is the most important feeling, as it keeps you from doing stupid things and die. I am sure all those insects feel immense pain when they die, as the pain is there trying to persuade them away from death.
What Tiffany said is true, but pain is also largely an emotional response. If you study the anatomy of insect brains, such as ants, it's quite amazing how simple they are. They operate similar to computers, by receiving data and making logical responses based on that data, but they're too simple to think, they just respond automatically based off information.
So they don't have a central nervous system, they don't have pain receptors and they don't think. They might have something scientists haven't discovered yet, but to the best of our current knowledge they can't feel or suffer. People point out that bugs do try and avoid death (except the retarded hornet), which is true, but it's just another neurological reaction based on data, not an actual choice to avoid it. It's simply a survival mechanism. Bugs cannot feel the pain a fire causes, but most can sense that they should avoid them because the ones that didn't died out pretty easily.

Ah okay I should've rephrased my shits better. I think what I was really trying to say is if any being has a tendency of self-preservation and poses no harm to someone, that someone should give that thing a chance to preserve itself in peace. What you said makes sense, I haven't really studied nervous system formally yet, so I take what you said to be correct to our current understanding. I also agree that then, the bugs feel no pain. However I do still argue that since these bugs have a sense of survival, then they should be given a chance to do so. That however, is entirely a personal opinion(I could also see putting them into a cage fight being another very valid personal opinion as well) and I ask you politely not to argue with it.

Alright, that made me laugh :x but I agree with evan. Most of the bugs just want to get out of the cage, especially the scorpions and centipedes. Hiding is their #1 survival mechanism. They should just pit all the asshole hornets, wasps and spiders together, since all of them are more interested in getting the kill than getting away. Throw the beetles in there too, just cause they're impenetrable tanks and can't really lose. o.o

Yeah and normally it'll be near 100% since they won't be in a cage and they'd rather disengage. Oh and they move by rounds sometimes, so winner of this round is likely to be moved to the next round and get killed. So the live rate is less than 50%. Anyways who am I to tell you the answer, don't feel like more yapping, go read ur ansible.
the bugs that would rather hide than fight is a pussy anyway and deserves to die. so either way ur only left with manly bugs. this website is speeding up bug evolution with its noble mission. they are doing the bugs a favor.

Stop comparing insects to higher level mammals. What are you PETA?

He said that bugs are pussies. I say he is stupid . I cant underterstand this:
this website is speeding up bug evolution with its noble mission. they are doing the bugs a favor.
Read the previous posts for god sake... Nobody here cares about those bugs.
I like that logic so much. Spiders are higher level than ants, frogs are higher level than spider, snakes are higher level than frogs... and of course human is higher level than everything. Since human is higher level than everything else there's no need to argue that bears are higher level than insects, so we can kill insects for no reason but we can't do the same to bears. It's a scientific fact. Isn't it?
We can make moral rationalizations and condemnations but in the end we are just acting on our impulses (i.e. we usually feel empathy when we see a bear suffering but mostly don't care about bugs, mostly because they aren't as capable of suffering, I suppose, and we don't relate to them as much.)

Actually I was referring to the differences in biological structure, not whether or not it was right to kill any of them. Ansible's post was obviously tongue and cheek and not meant to be taken seriously or literally. Yes, he was kidding.

No actually, not a scientific fact at all..not even close.

bears and people are not bugs, it's amazing you'd compare the holocrust to bugs fighting, it's completely not on the same level
for one, there are only 100 bugs in this show max, and during world war2 there were over 1 million jews killed

Oh my god I havent compared mammals and bugs ( i dont care about bugs ). I said that because your argument is so agressive and weird ( "zomg bugs are pussies hahaha they should die painfully because they suck " and so on ...)

Why are you talking about jews and WW2 ? It is absolutly irrevelant ( Godwin's law ? )
