Although the male's mandibles seem threatening, they are too weak to be harmful. -.- That's an Atlas beetle, not a wimpy stag beetle. You should watch the videos again ( i m not that stupid that stupid -.- ) It is a stag beetle who fights the lobster -.- Nope, the beetle fighting the lobster has three horns and is lifting. Stag beetles pinch with two.

I think some of these fights are a bit twisted, but I don't think traditional beetle fighting (common in many asian countries) is really that bad, cause they really only push each other around and they're designed to fight like that, in order to win a mate.

Yup, usually they dont hurt each other. Those species of beetle dont eat others bugs and they looks like small versions of deer or rhino.

I know bugs aren't feeling pain and their decisions are only based on simple, logical reactions like a machine, not actual emotional decision making, and it's interesting to see which bug and technique is more powerful, but I don't enjoy watching them die. I think it's a bit screwed up if you watch it because you like to see things die/suffer.

This big brown grasshopper or cricket ( dunno what species it is really impressive ). Didnt know that it could kill a solifuge ( even if it is smaller )
|
it's a mole cricket, which based on the videos alone seem to be relatively aggressive. they have big heads that come with big jaws too; i'd like to see it against a tarantula, centipede, or hornet.
they should have included some emperor scorpions, which imo are the most robust of arachnids
edit - nevermind it's not a mole cricket.
|
looks like a mole cricket to me :p
stag beetles look awesome i would like to have one as a pet they demonstrate why ultimate defense >>> ultimate offense
edit: my 1000th post, finally a vulture now

i think he has no chance vs a big tarentula/scorpion/solifuge or even the hornet ( the solifuge he killed was way too small )
edit: it isnt a mole cricket. It looks more like a King Cricket

Bugs creep the fuck out of me
That hornet is an angry motherfucker.

It's a weta. It seems like its jaws are more powerful than any of the others.
It's interesting that the beetles are so difficult to beat. None of the bugs can pierce their armor, which is why they're not very susceptible to poison. The scorpion tries, but the only unprotected spot is between the joints, and its stinger is too big to fit.

Well, whether they're sentient or not is unknown. From what we know, they sense and react much like computers, but they don't feel and don't have awareness.
