The shot exchange problem is always hard but if you know where the platform you need to shoot down will be you can use shorter range and cheaper countermeasures. Problem seems to be that there isn't really any good countermeasures against drone swarms right now. | ||

Now, 5 years into the war Russians are so discombobulated and their logistics are so fucked that they are back at trying to take obvious routes with large concentrations of vehicles, with even more predictable outcomes. In their blind rage, as even the resident doomers or propagandists like GH and Zeo fall silent, they are lashing out and directly targeting 1000 year old churches and invaluable museums. All I can say is that the biggest joy I get out of this turn of events is that it was done after Trump cut off aid, after all the incredibly shitty "you don't have the cards" treatment that Zelenskyy got from this US regime working with Russians to try to make them give up incredibly hard fought pieces of their homeland, simply put, Putin's investment in Trump has failed to pay off in Ukraine, and I know it makes him and Trump absolutely furious. | ||

I don't know if you have a specific comment in mind or just a caricature you've created in your mind, but the thread is just generally inactive and I don't follow the minutiae. If you're trying to get me to say that Ukraine and Europe have adapted to the US restructuring their support better than I expected that's fine. I also didn't consider Trump would basically continue the military aid at a premium (though it seems obvious in hindsight). I'm probably still less confident than most that this will work out for Ukraine (an agreement that makes rebuilding Ukraine a wise investment for Western firms is still pretty far off afaict), but as far as I'm hearing (which admittedly isn't much), Ukraine seems to be holding their own and possibly a bit more. The irony is that the turn of events is still largely contributed to the US cutting starlink for the russian army, altough I'm not sure Trump had much contribution with that | ||

I really feel like as much as we don’t like him we have to respect the game. He fully surrendered his country to Russia and somehow won. Russia is killing itself in this insane war while Luka insists with a straight face that the war is really against NATO and Belarus can’t spare a single man from their positions on the front lines. He’s dancing on the razor’s edge. Russia invaded through Belarus so they’re definitely in this war but Ukraine isn’t touching them. Meanwhile they’re selling refined oil products to Russia at a premium. He is just about the worst ally Russia has. Had Belarus had a pro western leader their population would be getting raped and murdered by Russian troops. Had Belarus had a pro Russian leader their population would be getting droned in trenches. Their pro Lukashenko leader has found the perfect sweet spot. | ||

I don't even know how you get there and how to find a target for your hate. I understand racism. People look different than you, speak another language. They are "the others" and I guess it is pretty normal to be wary of the unknown. It is not a huge step from that uneasy feeling to a misguided ideology. I have never in my life looked at someone and thought: "This must be a jew". I recognize that some last names are most likely jewish, but I don't ask for last names when I get to know someone. I also have never seen someone rich and thought to myself "probably a jew". And I won't entertain the nose-stereotype, that is plain evil. I am just blind to certain societal things, I don't know why. But specifically here in Germany, where antisemitism obviously is a problem... I don't even know how I could possibly get there. | ||

Jews have their own language, don't go to church like normal people, meet in secret with all the other Jews to do weird rituals (and with no other people!) and no one knows exactly what they do. They have all those customs, and they know all the other Jews and probably conspire with them. They are different in a less obvious way than foreigners, which makes them even more scary, because that must mean that they try to trick you. | ||
