Shit is going down this weekend. Friday is the typical day for coups.

But in all seriousness, this looks really bad. Especially with Putin being completely quiet about this.

But, it feels so good to finally read some good news in the headlines again. Or did I miss something, and this is terrible news?

If Ukraine seizes the moment and increases its attacks, might that influence how many Russian soldiers join Wagner? However, is that even relevant? But, it feels so good to finally read some good news in the headlines again. Or did I miss something, and this is terrible news? Hard to say, but I'm seeing some tweets where Ukrainians have taken streets and captured prisoners over in Bakhmut due to this, also seeing stuff where it's like elements of Wagner over at Bakhmut either just straight up started attacking regular Russian military or were able to get some Russian military to join their side and do it for them. It's a clusterfuck indeed but really hope to see drone footage of this entire event over the coming days. https://twitter.com/wartranslated/status/1672329674729373696?s=20

Maybe Wagner has the backing of people in the Russian military, or Prigozhin was tipped off about an impending arrest and decided to gamble like Caesar. Maybe this is all smoke and mirrors for something else. The russian military is busy at the moment on the front. If they pull back troops now Ukraine could make a breakthrough and churn the political situation onto the side of the rebels. I'm super duper skeptical about this all being real but who knows for sure. If it was fake though you'd think that they would provide some stupid staged pictures or videos of something.

We're getting videos from the Rostov area, so maybe I spoke too soon. Hopefully I'm not posting older footage that people are recycling for disinfo. Video of alleged Wagner and Russian military clash near Rostov posted by a Russian milblogger. Helicopter in the Rostov area, and then a MANPADs fired off at 0:09. Prigozhin claimed Wagner shot down a Russian helicopter.

In an explosive 30-minute video posted on his Telegram channel, Prigozhin dismissed Moscow’s claims that Kyiv was planning to launch an offensive on the Russian-controlled territories in eastern Ukraine in February 2022. “There was nothing extraordinary happening on the eve of February 24,” Prigozhin said. “The ministry of defence is trying to deceive the public and the president and spin the story that there was insane levels of aggression from the Ukrainian side and that they were going to attack us together with the whole Nato block,” the Wagner head said. source: AP/Guardian, translated from Russian

edit: No idea if the footage of Tanks and other equipment entering Rostov are Wagner or not.... insane if its real as only apparent riot cops are defending. That and Rostov is apparently a logistics hub.

His mad plan I think is to take over the MOD and the war itself, then wait until putin dies so that he can take over the empire. He may be drunk enough all the time to think he has the chance at it. There are reported footage of a firefight between wagner and national guard units as well as barricades being set up in Moscow.

I understand not many here care that much about Russians, and some probably are happy this is happening as the chaos might be only good for AFU offensive. But my wife is still in Russia and there are reasons why she cannot leave the country at any moment, it should be prepared weeks in advance. And of course I have my family and many friends there. So I'm kinda scared what this might lead to.

Do they really believe this will succeed? So this would appear that some Russian national guard units have joined Wagner? I mean, maybe they know something that we don't, but it looks to me very, very risky. If this coup fails, they might be trialed for treason (or whatever is the official name of it)... or maybe they just thought they have no choice, for whatever reason.

Well supposedly Rostov is a logistic hub for Russia in Ukraine. Along with several bases around the area with all types of supplies etc. That and one can imagine the command structure it has for forces that are in Ukraine right now.

Did Prigozhin spend a lot of times making allies in all the right places? Even then it's very risky, otherwise it's an absurdly desperate gesture.
