https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/e0ac/faf6893347a21cab5c90462dd9c99a76f211.pdf Why does EA make their hockey games in Canada? Because they can get dozens of people willing to sink the entire lives into making the greatest hockey game ever made. No one in Tennessee, New Mexico, or South Carolina is nearly so willing to do so. Wow, what a shocker. These employees should not be infantalized. They are living in one of the richest nations on earth and have a plethora of career choice options. In Canada, its not that big of a deal to work your ass off from 17 to 20 and make yourself marketable to US companies thereby greatly increasing your job possibilities. The industry can be best described by the quote in my sig. That is how creatives are viewed by the financial people who run the industry. That quote is over 40 years old. Same Shit... different decade. I say, pull a David Crane and GTFO. Whining about it on twitter is a waste of time.

FIFA 21 is #1 bought game in UK (Switch version accounts for 2% of their sales). Go figure. Worldwide FIFA 18 & 19 sold around 25m copies each. FIFA 20 was well over 10 million. We're talking about the biggest sports game franchise in the world. Of course people will buy it.

But if it's all French employees that might cause a headache. https://twitter.com/TaliesinEvitel/status/1316140939006672897 I wonder if this is connected ![]()

Employees striking to keep their office open and not lose their job is fairly logical. But doesn't mean the business should keep that office open either.

Sure someone could have DDOSed them for closing the office or something, but it seems more likely that they just got overloaded because of a major download that everyone wants. Heh, I pre-ordered Shadowlands (with mount and all the jazz) yet I know I will spend 0 time in it as I don't even feel like re-installing WoW.

Doesn't excuse them to have this breakdown, it's not their first launch of a WoW expansion... (also I believe it was somebody's mistake more than overload from WoW)

(also I believe it was somebody's mistake more than overload from WoW) Yeah, they've dealt with prepatch issues in the past. This wasn't the smoothest I've seen but the NA servers at least seemed to settle down quickly, within like 30 minutes or so of it launching me and my guild weren't having any issues connecting/switching characters and things have been stable for the past two days. Not sure why the EU servers are shitting the bed so badly. Perhaps it actually does have something to do with that office shutting down. Not exactly a smart idea to go down in manpower when your userbase is going to have a considerable uptick.

During testing and electronic expo show demonstrations an arcade game called "Rally X" was universally favoured over Pacman. In 1981, Americans pumped 20 billion quarters into Pacman arcade machines. wow.
