There was a meeting with the Press Secretary back in the Shaun Spicer days where they blocked CNN and a couple outlets. Fox News and others found out when they got there. After words they told Spicer that they wouldn’t show up at all if he pulled a stunt like that again.
The White House Press corps understands the power dynamic between them and the White House. They make it impossible to pick a fight with one of them, because they know they can’t push back against the White House any other way.
There was also a time when Trump’s team was talking about ending the press briefings and removing access for all outlets. And the Press Corps effectively said that would be “fine, then we can get back to real reporting.” Any normal White House would have figured it out by now: The White House Press Corps lives for these fights. It is their entire job.

Let's not forget the time Obama threatened to pull fox news out of briefings and the rest of the press went 'the fuck you will'
The press may compete for ratings but they know they are all on the same team in the end

Not a game that they want to play where for 4 years at a time they lose a huge part of their access.
I can 100% assure you the White House Press Corps would be fine with being denied access to the White House if the briefings ended. They were be some complaining, but they would all just report on the White House from across the street or someplace else. The access to the White House and Press Secretary benefits the White House, not the reporters. And there would be no hit in ratings.
This article is long, but worth everyone’s time. Facebook has been operating more and more like an 1900 coal empire than thebsocial responsible company they claim to be. The tidbit below is not even the most damning part of the article. Facebook has not only in the business of silencing their critics, but also is hiring former aids of people like Jeff Sessions. Which is not great for any normal company, but these folks control the news many Americans see. And they might be a bit biased.

The threat? It was never the horde of rampaging orcs that Trump painted it as. Military is just getting to camp on the border for funsies.

It's like they were fear-mongering about immigrants to stoke turnout in the election or something.

Anyone wanna guess how many times Trump has tweeted about the caravan "invasion" since the election? Here's a hint... it rhymes with hero.
His fear mongering and pandering to idiots is so blatant it shocks the conscious.

His wife denied anything happened with her. Doesn't mean it didn't happen with someone else since the news is merely that he was arrested, and not that Ms. Avenatti was a victim.

"Early reports indicated that the incident involved with Avenatti's estranged wife, Lisa Storie-Avenatti"

The caravan is like thousand of kilometers away, and they're walking. They won't even reach the border before Christmas.
So basically Trump is wasting hundreds of millions of dollars and getting hundreds (thousands?) of soldiers to live in tents and eat MREs over Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving for an election stunt, and they'll quietly pack up and go home before the caravan even shows up.
Avenatti's arrest only means that he fits squarely within Republican established standards of personal conduct for president of the United states. In fact he's still beating those standards, considering that his wife never accused him of rape under oath.

Quiet before the storm? I just google searched "Caravan" and a ton of articles pulled up, a bunch in the last several hours.
