Is there any credible source that we can follow news on missing Saudi Arabian journalist if any of you guys interested in? Mainstream media is full of with conspiracy theories.

NPR and the Times both have good write ups on it. But I’m not sure if those count as conspiracy theories or not.

This is a write up from 10 days ago that is a good place to start.

Trump has so much leverage on Saudi Arabia that they felt able to torture, murder, and dismember a Green Card holding journalist who works for one the U.S.'s largest news outlets. So much leverage, much wow. Wouldn't wanna waste that.

It's almost like Trump makes the U.S. look like a weak little bitch to any authoritarian leader that wants to do whatever the hell they want.

By electing Trump, the US voters effectively abandoned global leadership for good. It should be obvious.

and any type of a moral high ground
Turkey is an ally and the Saudis lured and dismembered a Turkish journalist in their consulate in Turkey, a person who wrote for US papers also and was a US resident. Trump's reaction is for now "we cant jeopardize our business deals"
this is disgusting

While i agree with your comments, I would like to remind that it is selective indignation, as the yemeni civil war where the us and KSA are hand in hand produced a good deal more horror and potential war crimes on civilians.
But the us declared the international court didn't have the mandate to investigate it, so it would not recognize its findings.

This partnership has been about money for weapons and not decency, from day one. (I don't blame the us, France does it, too...)

It isn't only about money for weapons. Its about the geopolitical situation in the middle east, oil and a bunch of other things too. I'm not excusing western powers, they should be much more aware of the damage this relationship is causing, but its a complex situation involving deals that stretch back generations and the need for allies in a constantly shifting political landscape.

That is true but SA has been a hot potato for every US president for the last 20 years. Weapons, oil, military bases and money is far more important than ideological correctness, for both sides!

Hillary and Obama would probably have formulated some critisism, but continued business as usual.

the problem is, the SA are pushing the boundaries all the time, without punishment.

Steve King is as close to unambiguously racist and terrible as US politicians get, so I'm not surprised that he'd endorse someone similar, even if across borders.

Steve King is one of 435 House Representatives and has been able to avoid the national spotlight for a decade and a half. He has never been the head of any committee, so he has never been in a leadership role.

Side note: He was named lead effective member of the legislature 2015 due to his inability to get any legislation out of a sub-committee.

He sucks real bad as a human and a congressman. And his district seems to support him in this role as a failure. Or no Democrat has been able to get an edge on him since 2003.

The amount of time and money to make a run is a big barrier, often regardless of how strong a candidate is or how flippable the district is. It takes a pretty significant carrot and stick to run in a district that has voted Republican by 20 pts for over a decade.

Since 2016 a lot more people are running in a lot more places. Some of these efforts have born fruit, with or without wider party support while others are/ were largely quixotic. So we'll see how things shake out for midterms, and how far/ long the enthusiasm goes. The guy running against King seems decent, though his chances of winning remain slim.

Although this is true and he might lose, there is no way to flip those seats without a sustained effort over several elections. Republicans didn’t hold the house for 40 years and only flipped it in the 1990s.

And Reps like King are also not used to having to run a competitive race ever 2 years. That is why he has been able to say such wild shit for a decade and a half. He has never had to worry about losing in November.

The democrat currently running against Jim Jordan has done so and lost the past three cycles. Their race was just designated as a true tossup instead of leaning R :D Yay Ms. Garrett!

Facebook just released information about the Election War Room, which has to be the ugliest work space I have ever seen. It is impressive how ugly it is given the amount of money Facebook makes. But its like slightly over 20ish people for the entire country? Or the world? This room would be understaffed if they were broadcasting a college sports event or a TV production of Peter Pan. They have 200 million users in the US and this is their PR push to show they are on the whole election interference issue? Facebook constantly tests my ability to measure malice vs gross stupidity.
