Trump is probably betting correctly that Republican supporters want the conservative Supreme Court so much that they probably don’t care who gets on the bench so long as he’s “conservative” enough. Life really doesn’t have to be this hard. I just want to point out that mods do NOT have some kind of imaginary immunity to the rules. Womwomwom has been sent a PM about following the USPMT guidelines just like everyone else.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense that Trump hasn't backed down. He believes he's at war with everyone and refuses to give an inch, even if it would end up helping him If we assume Kavanaugh's perspective on executive power is just a coincidence, all of this rapey stuff coming out helps to complete the circle. I think it is likely some kinda deal with insurance (blackmail) has been made.

He sees this as a proxy of his own allegations which he must fight. At this point I'd be shocked if they withdrew his nomination before learning they lack the votes (if it comes to that).

The Evangelical leaders saying they should push this through regardless of the allegations of sexual misconduct is nothing short of hilarious. Family values, etc etc.

It’s like people haven’t learned a thing since Duke Lacrosse and Rolling Stone. Evangelicals do well to wait out her testimony and have a defense and later a vote. Justice demands it.

Just keep evoking that Lacrosse team like some talisman that proves all allegations false going forward.

Do you think the 3 other women are also lying? And that the letter they preemptively made about how much kevinaugh respects women was just a coincidence?

It’s a useful check on just citing allegations as if they were fact. That is being done here, repeatedly. Innocent men suffer and justice is not served.

So you find 1 case out of thousands where allegations were false and use it as proof? Please tell me you're just parodying conservative talk points now and don't actually believe what you're saying.

The first two has had their testimony contradicted by alleged witnessses and close friends and do not appear credible. Cite the third for me. Secondly, Grassley office and the signers confirm that they sent the letter after hearing the unsupported allegations. This is fake news that it was conveniently provided beforehand, and all evidence is against it. I look forward to real proof and a retraction of this accusation.

Somehow I think Kavanaugh will get through this unscathed, even if all the allegations are true. Because justice isn’t served on rich white men either. But it’s nice they have you to defend them in their out of need.

Justice isn’t served by believing all accusers just because the accused is a rich white men, and you think they get away with everything, and insult people defending them. I want justice for all skin colors, not just non-white non-rich skin colors, and frankly I’m saddened to hear “but it’s nice they have you to defend them.” I hope you have friends if you’re ever falsely accused, even if you’re rich and white.

I think so too, although I think it's mainly because the republicans have shown they don't care about anything but the agenda of their donors, and come hell or high water they will get a republican supreme court, even if they have to appoint a rapist who perjured himself 5 times during 1 hearing. I hope they suffer for it, but they won't. The liberal voters are too lazy to go out and vote, and in many areas gerrymandering and voter suppression are so strong that it doesn't matter anyway. Plus I feel like most republican voters don't care about pesky things like rape or breaking the laws, they just want their guns and to keep the gays and blacks down.

I’ve never really been that interested in your performance of faux sadness and faux interest in justice. And I’m firmly middle class, no one gunna mistake me or my wife for being rich. But glad to see you support putting the nomination on hold for a full investigation into the claims by an disinterested investigator. That is the path everyone should be supporting.

It’s the fact that he’s well off and white that you choose scorn. It’s troubling that certain racist and class warfare views are just a big joke to you.
