Johnson getting gradually redder in the face with every sentence is quite something, he tries so hard but his body betrays him!

Trump has innovated a brilliant strategy of being so repulsively stupid 24/7 that nobody's sure if he's had a stroke or worsening dementia because he's already rock bottom.

What is that setup? Why are there weird printouts of what looks like screenshots of someones email folder or some wegpage on both sides of him? Why are people sitting on the floor?

brilliant is not the first word that comes to mind. that all this flies is a representation of the electorate and the people working hard to normalize idiocy and bad governance as the norm.

also the involuntary accomplices like vast swathes of the media "laughing" outrageous things off for years, hoping for the quick buck of the high ratings. well where's your bucks now?

the richest scummiest billionaires of our lifetime are buying it all up, in case they don't own it already... so much money did they all make in the end.

this multi-system crisis is how empires die.

the decadent, corrupted elite leading the blind astray who in turn lash out indiscriminately.

@Sim. it's the AP stream, they started it early for this press conference and apparently were not fully ready once Johnson showed up.

it is not uncommon for journalists to be on the ground while press conferences are going on. photo journalists especially. and depending on the size and setting of the room and how desirable it is to be in there.

also lol those are props politicians all around the world love. they should complement his message but for some reason he does not even fully acknowledge them. at some point he also holds up a news paper at least he trusts, the Washington Examiner.

he is not a good showman let alone making convincing arguments here. as a politician you need at least one of the two, and that one very badly. unfortunately it is not making good arguments.

I like that he says his prediction was a year ago. Better late than never I guess. Also he keeps specifying that the WTC was blown up. Didn’t planes hit it? Does he know something we don’t?

Trump is a force of nature, unfortunately not for good. he single-handedly survived multitudes of scandals and can easily be attributed to sending the quality of political discourse into a total tailspin.

US liquor exports to Canada drop 85 percent

United States liquor exports to Canada declined by 85 percent in the second quarter of 2025, according to a new report, which cited the “adverse impact” of ongoing trade tensions.

The midyear report, released Monday by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS), shows that exports to Canada dropped to $9.6 million in the second quarter of 2025, down from $63.1 million in the second quarter of 2024.

President Trump announced sweeping tariffs on U.S. trading partners earlier this year, including a 35 percent tariff on Canada. Goods covered by the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement, which Trump struck during his first term, are exempt from the tariffs.

Canada responded with counter tariffs but lifted most of them on Sept. 1.

Still, according to the report, “the majority of Provinces continue to ban American spirits from their shelves. Canada remains the only key trading partner to retaliate against U.S. spirits.”

Overall, U.S. exports of distilled spirits declined by 9 percent year over year in the second quarter of 2025: from $651 million in the second quarter of 2024 to $593.6 million in the second quarter of 2025.

In other international markets, U.S. exports of spirits also took a hit.

Exports to the European Union, the U.S. industry’s largest market, decreased by 12 percent, falling from $330.7 million in the second quarter of 2024 to $290.3 million in the second quarter of 2025.

U.S. exports to the United Kingdom declined by 29 percent, from $37.7 million in the second quarter of last year to $26.9 million in the second quarter of this year. And exports to Japan dropped 23 percent, from $27.7 million last year to $21.4 million this year.

DISCUS President and CEO Chris Swonger warned that “persistent trade tensions are having an immediate and adverse effect on U.S. spirits exports.”

“There’s a growing concern that our international consumers are increasingly opting for domestically produced spirits or imports from countries other than the U.S., signaling a shift away from our great American spirits brands,” Swonger continued.

Swonger called for a return to zero-for-zero tariffs, asking the president directly for his help.

“With domestic demand slowing, it is critically important that U.S. distillers have the certainty of zero-for-zero tariffs with our key markets, including the EU and UK. The spirits sector is highly interconnected and, as a result, tariffs on imported spirits have wide-reaching consequences on the industry as a whole,” Swonger said. “For decades, the spirits sector was the model for ‘fair and reciprocal’ trade.”

“We urge the President to help facilitate a lasting return to tariff-free trade with our longstanding trading partners to ensure the continued growth and vitality of this great industry.”

The White House responded to the report, touting Trump’s trade agenda and overall economic policies as beneficial to the industry.

“President Trump’s trade agenda has created unprecedented market access for American products to economies that in total are worth over $32 trillion with over 1.2 billion people,” White House spokesperson Kush Desai said in a statement.

“As these trade deals and the Administration’s pro-growth policies of deregulation and working-class tax cuts take effect, it’s going to be bottoms up for American distillers, brewers, and winemakers,”
Desai continued.

the White House response is straight up comical.

most certainly not laughing are the distillers and the people they employ as former markets are increasingly rejecting their products. just like the farmers who need a 10+ billion$ bailout due to the Trump tariffs.

over many decades and even centuries certain Kentucky and Tennessee alcohol products had forever loyal customers in Canada. That has been burnt to the ground.

yeah, Trump has a knack for picking them. Nutlick is another one of the "best people" (Epstein's "ex-neighbour" in NYC btw...)

I mean during prohibition going on them Canucks saved thirsty Yanks through (another?) self imposed dry spell. I would very much like to think there is a strong neighbourly bond there.

just not one where you would like to join as a " direct family member" or 51th state as some maniacs would like to claim.

How are people feeling about the forthcoming Comey trial?

Former FBI Director James Comey pleaded not guilty to two criminal charges at his arraignment Wednesday, where his lawyers said they plan to file several motions they hope will kill the case before it makes it to a jury.

Comey, if convicted on charges of providing false statements and obstructing a congressional proceeding, faces up to five years in prison.

His team, however, plans to file at least five motions to try to have the case dismissed.

“This prosecution was brought by President Trump,” Comey’s attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald, said in court, adding that his team plans to file an “outrageous government conduct” motion.

Obv fake case without substantial evidence brought on only as a vindictive measure against the person is obvious.

Not much else to say.

I expect it to go about as well for Trump as all his election fraud cases.

It's a nakedly political show trial. A week before the prosecution Trump attempted to DM Pam Bondi
No action.. Nothing is being done. What about Comey??? Guilty as hell.... We can't delay any longer... JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!! President DJT
but, because this is the stupidest timeline, posted it to his feed instead. Didn't even @ her because he genuinely thought it was a DM. An hour later he deleted the post. Not only is there a conspiracy by the president to use the DoJ to attack his political enemies, he sent out the minutes of the conspiracy.

What is there really to say. We knew he was going to do this. He told us he was going to do this. It's utterly indefensible. He's doing it. To everyone who knows who Trump is this isn't news. To everyone who knows who Trump is and likes it, it isn't news.

On the one hand, he's innocent. On the other, this is Comey, yougetwhatyoufuckingdeserve.gif.

I think it’s potentially an important litmus test. Does the US flirt with going full Fash or just go and do it?

I think say, ICE’s behaviour is worse, but you can at least shroud it in the dealing with illegal migration talking points.

Comey? It’s blatantly the Dear Leader going for revenge. It’s unbelievably blatant, he’s accidentally sent DMs saying what he’s doing.

I think if Comey goes down we just gotta give up, it’s Fascism for the rest of this term, hopefully not longer.

I personally think the proof of Fascist power is not what is being done to the powerless, but to the powerful. A regular right wing Presidency could shit on illegal immigrants, but it’s the Fascist who goes after every political opponent going. And it’s the successful Fascist who can do the latter successfully.

"Fascism for the rest of this term" seems a little oxymoronish, but I pretty much agree.

To you're last point, Trump's threats of public officials are actually more problematic than we can probably appreciate as it feels like just another salvo in an unending barrage of bullshit from Trump.

The president wrote in a social media post that Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, both Democrats, "should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers!"

Pritzker isn't just a Governor, he's a billionaire, from a family of billionaires. Granted, they're lowly single digit billionaires, still, not exactly who you think of as "low hanging fruit". Maybe, there's a method to the madness?

What is there really to say. We knew he was going to do this. He told us he was going to do this. It's utterly indefensible. He's doing it. To everyone who knows who Trump is this isn't news. To everyone who knows who Trump is and likes it, it isn't news.

On the one hand, he's innocent. On the other, this is Comey, yougetwhatyoufuckingdeserve.gif.

This post? I can still see it. It appears non- or un-deleted.
