So what to do about it? Probably publicly muse about violent insurrection while personally packing up and leaving for whatever country seems like a fairer place to live? That seems like about where the mood is around here.

I'm too poor to relocate to another country unfortunately. It's not like they particularly want me here considering I hate literally everything this country stands for at this point. Ofc, I will prbly die before the SCOTUS rapists bc they have much better healthcare than I do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 'merica!

Yeah, honestly, on an individual basis leaving the US is about the only thing you can do. The system is just way too broken, and the people with the ability to change stuff have no interest in doing so.
And i don't think that leaving is impossible. It may not be easy, and i don't know your specific situation, but there are places which are far less shitty than the US.

You don’t need to leave the whole country. Oregon for example is still a utopia.

I've thought a lot about my decision back in November to flee the country. At the time, with the anti-trans bills happening everywhere and no one outside of the trans community caring, I thought we were completely fucked with no hope of beating the fascist GOP, and so I decided to save my own skin. What I've witnessed since yesterday's ruling has shocked me. I underestimated the sheer amount of radicalization that occurred from a lot of liberals and left-leaning people. I've seen many of my millennial and Gen Z vote blue no matter who friends finally realize that electoral politics will not help us, so I've been telling them things to do outside of the electoral system and they've been very enthusiastic about making changes. I don't know how long this enthusiasm from them will last before it changes into despair, if it does, but we actually have some sort of broad and significant liberal and left unity across the country to make change happen. I don't know what the right answer is for me, whether I still go or if I stay and fight. If I go, I can provide financial and similar support from relative safety. If I stay, I'll be among the first targeted due to being trans and we may not succeed in causing change and I could be killed without ever making a difference in the fight. Fascism will not be beaten without fighting it. I almost died in February, and that experience caused me to not fear death anymore. If I have to sacrifice my freedom or my life in the hopes of giving a better future to my friends, family, loved ones, community, and those that come after me, then I will, but I do not want to die in vain or for a stupid reason. I just have to figure out what would be the best course of action and would help the most people.

If anyone has advice on leaving besides a link to a country's immigration website I would be glad to hear it.

1. A refugee loophole or other that you can convince the host country you qualify for. No real guidance here beyond that they exist and tend to involve some very specific where-and-how conditions on entering and asking for refugee status.
2. Having a job that will move you and take care of the bureaucratic hurdles for you. There's a reasonable spattering of decent jobs in this regard that have a good mix of low skill barrier and high demand, such as computer programmer or English teacher.
Lots of other ways, including going through the stated process, joining that country's military, or buying your way in as an investor. But I doubt you're interested in any of those.

Yah, I think I'm just doomed to die here. I have most of a bachelor's but no money to finish and no real desire to be indebted to the US government.

So what to do about it? I get a lot of my political beliefs from the Black Panthers in the 1960s. Here's some of my favorite quotes: "In order for nonviolence to work, your opponent must have a conscience. The United States has none." - Kwame Ture "We declare our right on this earth to be a man, to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary." - Malcolm X "We know the road to freedom has always been stalked by death." - Angela Davis Well said!

Im not going to tell you that you can legally teach english in China without a degree, but I will tell you that its far from uncommon to be illegally teaching english in China.

In the case of Germany, a surprising amount of people who don't know it technically have German citizenship. If your parents or grandparents were German citizens when they had you, you may also be a German citizen. (Depends on some details)

I'm not sure fleeing the US for China is the route you want to go to escape the oppressive government.

At least in China going to the hospital won’t bankrupt you and you can afford a decent apartment and have plenty of spending money

I spent a solid amount of time in China and Singapore over the last five years and I can tell you as long as you don't plan to become a political activist there's surprisingly little interference in what you do. Secularism even in autocratic countries does wonders when it comes to freedoms in your private life, the US seems to more closely resemble Iran every year, which funnily enough is also a sort of democratic Republic and yet more oppressive than most of the absolute monarchies in the region.

Yeah, its not nearly as bad as most people in America believe it is. Yeah the internet is technically blocked and you cant be super politically against the CCP in any real active capacity, but cost of living is good, pay for english teachers is good, food is cheap and delicious, healthcare is cheap, public transit is good, and VPNs easily let you get your western internet fix.
Basically dont be a political agitator and get a VPN and its all good.
They know that if they let it get as bad as its getting in the US they'd have consequences for it, a content people are a people who arent inclined towards the torch and pitchfork.
