Maybe some evil plot about him magically recovering without any symptoms, but even that seems far fetched, and if he indeed gets sick, that theory goes out the window.

In a sane world, that wouldn't work. But somehow half the US has moved into a post-factual society where it inexplicably doesn't matter if something is true or not.

Statistically, when Trump says something, it is more likely a lie than not. He doesn't need reasons for lying.

And i can totally see him say something stupid like "look, i had covid, and i am fine, it really wasn't a problem, really nothing more than a flu" after lying about having it.

His strategies don't make sense to sane people, and they shouldn't work. But somehow they do. A country shouldn't elect someone who is obviously constantly lying, absurdly incompetent, a boorish bully AND also corrupt. Yet here we are. American politics have removed themselves from making any sense whatsoever with Trumps election.

If he wanted out (or if the republican establishment wanted him out) then this would be a decent excuse i guess but it seems unlikely to me. Trump announcing he will withdraw because of health problems? it doesnt realy fit his character.
I dont think its a hoax and i am not really surprised that he got the disease eventually but this timing with 1 month to go.
Seeing how the disease typically progresses in man with his age and posture it could take weeks unless he has a mild variation.

This year just keeps on getting crazier.
