Hm refreshed and the VP pick was made.
Aside from Trump politically hanging himself and keeping a safe distance, which is Plan A as far as I can tell, what’s the Plan B?
Candidate Biden seems to have slid leftwards from primary Biden, I guess it’s to keep progressives on board while Harris fulfils the ‘tough on crime’ thing or what?

Good God I can't FATHOM they're stupid enough to believe BIDEN is who is meant to keep PROGRESSIVES on board , FUCK ME THEY DO BELIEVE THAT DONT THEY.

This is about how I see it.

Biden received the most votes in the primary because that was who the most voters wanted to win the primary and challenge Donald Trump.

Progressives don’t have a choice. I don’t think anyone wants Trump in for another four years because Biden barely loses a swing state and they voted third party.

Other than on criminal justice, she was the most left leaning candidate of all his realistic options other than Warren. Granted, "other than on criminal justice" is a large bridge, considering how big an issue it is currently.
It's also something of payback for black voters propelling him to win - there was a lot of pressure for him to pick a black woman, in which case the choices were Abrams or Harris (he had a letter from leading african americans a couple days ago begging him to pick a black woman). If this were a normal race (or Biden a normal candidate), I'd have said Abrams - she's more charismatic and carries less baggage.
But it's not : Biden is more likely than any other candidate ever to be replaced by his VP due to his age at some point, and I think Harris is a better choice to actually govern, with everything we know about them (and she's closer to progressive policies than Abrams).
She's also been more liberal than Biden. It's the safe, boring pick. It's only a middle finger to progressives in that it isn't Warren or Sanders.

Some progressives will hate it. Some moderates will hate it. The idea is that it pisses off fewer of both combined than the other two options would.
It's nothing like Clinton's ultimate "FUCK YOU LEFTISTS" pick of Tim Kaine, who had exactly 0 good/non-corrupt reasons to be picked (as far as I can tell, not even moderates liked Tim Kaine).
It's standard politicking : it's a pandering pick to a demographic he's heavily reliant on, while allowing his others to accept it with distaste. It would've been a smarter pick had he immediately announced it in March, before George Floyd. No idea why he didn't - she was the obvious pick to most analysts at the time.
I'm not exactly thrilled about it, but that's standard VP fare. Unless Biden dies, it's a meaningless job.

Btw I’m still voting for Biden even if Kamala was his VP pick.

Ultimately Harris was the most logical choice. In an election year where it appears that the coalition to victory for Democrats is heavy turnout and support from swing voter college educated middle-class women and black voters, she fit the bill. Her record on crime and justice can largely deter accusations the party is turning to defunding the police, and she was quite a capable debater on stage. I read the account of one Obama voter turned Trump voter in Michigan or Wisconsin who said he'd strongly lean to voting Biden if Harris was VP, and that is the kind of person I see the appeal for.
I see Harris as a safe centre-left concession for the demographics they expect to carry them to victory, upset progressives be damned.

Harris has 32% favorable and 34% unfavorable rating interesting

I would have preferred Susan Rice or Tammy Duckworth (two of CNN’s final 5). From the primary, it didn’t seem like too many people wanted Harris, but whatever. It’s still Biden or Trump, seems like an easy decision to me.
Harris will open up more attacks from the left, but may ease some fears from moderates spooked by riots. Likely means less votes for Biden in deep blue states and more votes for Biden in swing states. Should be a good trade for winning.
Progressives are loud, but they are nowhere near as numerous as moderates (as the primary showed).

Now Biden’s going to carry California easily!
... as Kamala’s former press secretary removes a Trump tweet. This stuff is great.

Ive extensively looked into kamala's record as ag and Ive also been rewatching the wire lately. Her behavioral patterns very much remind me of some of the worst higher ups that show depicts. Her record as ag is downright catastrophic.// her voting record is far better though, she does hold some progressive positions but really isnt a progressive at heart, just hope the dems dont want to coronate her in 2024

Wow. I predict the awful optics of Kamala to the working class really hurt Biden in crucial electoral college battles. I didn’t think Tim Kaine could be topped as a bad VP pick. Really makes me appreciate the politically strategic selection of Pence to shore up support for Trump.
Also is no one considering how much more important the VP pick is this time? She could be taking equal snaps to Biden in this Fall campaign.

I know you meant it as kind of a joke, but it's so awful and the DNC is so shitty and tone deaf that I think it must be right, lol.
Cynicism, baby. It's what's for dinner.
