There are candidates I align with more than Harris but I am happy with Harris as a VP pick. I think she raises Biden’s the chance trump isn’t president

First attack ad is up. It was obviously made before the leak of the pick, but there were few candidates on the short list, so easy to do an ad for each.
I grant the reader that most of the people around here think former support for Medicare for All is a good thing she did, rather than something to attack her on.
Smart on Biden going full cop. Progressives will grumble but not leave, independents will be less scared about Dems being soft on crime and violence. I love all the ironies, but it was probably his best choice.

He did NOT say "ingest bleach". He did say "bleach looks good against covid, it cleans it fast, please doctors, can you investigate if there's a way to clean lungs with bleach". Some people will feel it's avant-gardiste to do what he says should be tried. Since he doesn't speak proper english, and since he's the president, AND is (though contradictory) a master at wording himself as if he, himself, can never be held responsible for anything he says, I am not looking at the exact words but the message it sends.
It's pretty clear he is a zero at science, and he should know people listen to his word, and are not all "smart" people with PhD (I mean, we are talking about the country with people microwaving their cat to dry it, and suing the company because it was not expressly written that you shouldn't do that in the manual), he should know best than to say this kind of thing, but people WILL misinterpret it. However, he doesn't care.
Did I, at any point in my 2 posts, lie about what he said ? His whole defense is based on deflection and about how he didn't say it or meant something else of course. How many times has it been ?
And for other posters who wanted blatant lies, just take the "We've gotten billions from China with the tariffs". These are extra paid by american people. Some chinese companies might have lowered their prices to try and stay competitive, however that's probably not the majority, and the extra money is still paid by american clients. At best it lowers the trade deficit a little, and products made in the US are still more expensive to consumers. It's a plain lie. It just doesn't work as he asserts it does.

My position on that quote was it was idea spitting stream of consciousness from the Donald and showcased the breathtaking arrogance of the man that this was a suggestion that scientists hadn’t pondered, and contrasted it with his frequent obstinacy in actually doing what scientists suggest, like wearing masks being a good idea, or not hawking completely unproven treatments.

Remember when Trump said he witnessed Muslims celebrating as 9/11 went down?
Which absolutely of course happened, all them sneaky Muslims. Even as a mere 11 year old at the time, starting ‘big school’ and being ushered to watch the news footage, my abiding memory of the time was utter confusion over what actually happened for many an hour.
Nobody knew what the fuck was going down (in the general populace anyway), so how would Muslims even know that jihadis were the culprits in near real time?
And why would American Muslims at large celebrate such a heinous event anyway?
There were people that were cheering on the other side of New Jersey, where you have large Arab populations. They were cheering as the World Trade Center came down. I know it might be not politically correct for you to talk about it, but there were people cheering as that building came down — as those buildings came down. And that tells you something. It was well covered at the time, George. Now, I know they don’t like to talk about it, but it was well covered at the time. There were people over in New Jersey that were watching it, a heavy Arab population, that were cheering as the buildings came down. Not good

I specifically remember video footage that day of people (in other countries) cheering, and it was allegedly as they learned that that the U.S. had been struck by a devastating attack. I'm not defending Trump's claims but there was footage to that effect played shortly after the events, regardless of the actual religion of anyone.

Wires get crossed, things get misremembered.
It is worth noting that Trump made that particular quote after being challenged for saying:
Hey, I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering.
Now, this isn’t some Mandela effect watching on TV thing. His altered claim that I quoted is bad enough, his original claim is that he personally witnessed thousands of people doing this in New Jersey.
If my location above my name isn’t a giveaway, I’m a remote viewer of all things American, and I’m viewing what’s going on your side of the Atlantic through media. I think crossed wires with a wall-to-wall news coverage and mistaking celebrations around the world for Americans doing it is still a stretch but plausible.
My abiding memory of seeing the celebrations and my young self pondering why people in the Middle East were celebrating, and a few years later with Iraq and Afghanistan knowing exactly why.

My Dad is pretty happy with the Harris pick. Wonder if she appeals to boomer generation? I don't have strong feelings about her either way, except she seems a million times better than any aspect of the current administration. I understand some of the ideological qualms but it would be nice to have just some basic *competence* again.

It's just mental gymnastic to prove that everyone is bad, thus voting partisan is the way to go. If his inflammatory tweets won't change your mind, or the gutting of the USPS 3months before the election, or any other blatant abuse of power, then what's the point. Que sera, sera eh

The pick doesn't surprise me. Definitely not my choice, but that was the case since Biden got the nom. My hope is that it's a tactical decision to pull at certain voting blocs that otherwise would've gone to Trump. Not holding my breath, but.

There will be people that come around to voting for Kamala's ticket because they can imagine her being a character on Law and Order: SVU.

Much better than the last pick Tim Kaine who is pretty much irrelevant today.
One overlooked aspect about her is shes also going to be first (half) Asian american to be on a presidential ticket.
