Yup. Adam Schiff went off on the Republicans over this today for almost 5 minutes after they put out a letter calling for his resignation because Barr's letter claims Trump is innocent. He literally spent 4+ minutes listing out various contacts the Trump Campaign had with Russia. It was great.

It's fun to watch Devin Nunes become increasingly uncomfortable as the whole thing goes on:

I wouldn’t get too comfortable with Adam Schiff if I were you. Trump and the House GOP seem to be targeting him for something bad, perhaps criminal prosecution, likely over leaks. The other person who is getting explicitly called out right now is Brennan.

Official Trump site is now selling pencil neck, clown nose Schiff shirts.Pretty bizarre.

That is one of the laziest fucking t-shirts I've ever seen, that anyone would pay money for it unironically upsets me gravely.

Fucking god, they couldn't hire a cartoonist to draw Schiff? They just put a red circle over his face and give him a literal pencil as a neck in what is surely the most God awful design that has proceeded to expel diarrhea of the cornea on to me.

This is the dumbest fucking t-shirt from top to bottom, concept to execution, Ive ever seen and that is saying just so, so much.

Would you have had this intense of a reaction if it was a good representation, and showed artistic merit, and was overall well executed?

I bet if it took more effort to get people worked up, we'd see a lot better designs come out (or less sales). Right now the cost of outrage is absurdly small, and I think raising the cost will have a benefit to the economy.

Well, we’re going to see the vast majority of the Mueller report sooner rather than later. Apparently he is working with Mueller on the redactions. Source.

Really wish they would have just said this sooner. Then again, they probably figured may as well see if they can avoid it.

Something tells me that Trump wants this disclosure and that he's baiting Democrats into demanding it. I don't know whether there's something in the Mueller report that Democrats will rue or whether there's something in the rebuttal memo prepared by Giuliani, et al. that Trump is looking for an excuse to air. I simply can't imagine that Trump would be volunteering this stuff without knowing what's going to happen by disclosing it. He already lost control of the process once when Sessions was his AG. There is just no way that it's going to happen again. There's already been a bit of a whiff of Trump and his people doing things behind the scenes that seemed to catch his opponents with their pants down. Take Brennan, for example. He was openly saying in CNN interviews that Mueller was going to terminate his investigation with a new round of indictments, which would potentially include in Trump, Jr. Clearly didn't happen. Instead, Weissman left the team and Mueller delivered his nothingburger a week later. Did Brennan think that he knew something about what was going to happen? Was he misled? This whole presentation just strikes me as odd.

I'm not sure I'd be putting so much faith in Trump possessing strategic brilliance, given what we've seen over the course of 4 years now. More likely he's just letting the process play out, which consists of the DOJ doing its thing. He can't purposely interfere right now because that would be terrible for him.

If they had bothered to hire a cartoonist that could caricaturize Schiff, or even just put his dumb fucking head on a full pencil I would have been fine with it's existence.

The design is actual shit tier, anyone who appreciates political art should want to vomit at this because of how rich and fantastic so much political art can be, a la the comics most are familiar with.

Visual diarrhea, utterly devoid of decent artistic decision making.

I'm bothered because I'm an artist more so than because Donald Trump and all he's associated with is asshattery.

Got to admit though; it's appropriate for the political times America finds itself in. The Presidency has become a brand name.

By my estimate, that would be about two and a half years ago.

In what was previously called in this thread "they are not changing any rules" and laughably dodged to the vile Republicans, AOC has struck back against the DCCC rules changes. She's now campaigning against her own party's primary Congressional fundraising apparatus. This comes after the DCCC changed their rules to refuse to do business with organizations that also take on clients in opposition to incumbent's primary campaigns. AOC is taking a public stand, and it's up to the party functionaries and Pelosi's office to compromise or press on.

Absolutely. She's already doing amazing things for the party. And this is a really good issue to make a huge deal out of. Everyone agrees with it, it is focusing attention in reforming her own party and is something she personally experienced.

I give this 2 thumbs up.

My original post is here and my response to conjecture that didn't disagree with me on substance is here.

I do not vote in the Democratic Presidential Primary, so my observation of the news within it is dedicated to reporting what is in the general interest. Secondarily, I will laugh at what is absurd. I don't really have a dog in this fight, since I am unlikely to vote for the Democratic ticket in the future, or donate to their political campaigns.

AOC is to be commended for being a true believer and principled in her own way, but at some point I suspect that she's going to get run over by the DNC. Her popularity is niche to the hardcore leftist base. While things like the Green New Deal play well to that segment of the population, they won't play well to a majority of Americans. The Green New Deal, in particular, was a singular PR disaster that AOC foisted upon the entire Democrat Party. It was half-baked at best, and it is going to hurt Democrats in two ways going forward. First, it is going to alienate entire sectors of industry that would be adversely impacted or even shut down by the policy. This will make local elections where those industries are located harder to win for Democrats. It will also shut off access to donor money from those crowds. Second, the Green New Deal is going to serve as impeachment/cross examination material against every Democrat in the 2020 elections. Every candidate is going to have to answer whether they're in favor of shutting down air travel, among the many other stupidities in the Green New Deal. It's going to be the gift that keeps on giving for Trump and the Republicans. The bottom line is that the sort of maximalist position that the Green New Deal represents is politically toxic for Democrats. And the Democrat leadership knows this. They're going to come after her sooner rather than later. That said, I don't know whether they'll be successful. The Leftist base is somewhat out of control already. What's more likely is that we will see a significant fracturing of the party, likely worse than what we have seen with the Republicans.

I think that AOC's GND and other bold proposals for progress, as well as Democratic presidential candidates' policy suggestions (e.g., Yang's UBI), are at least forcing conversations about ideas and topics that are worth exploring (even if they're ultimately rejected or heavily modified).

I actually don't mind some of those suggestions being "extreme left" (for America's political spectrum... It's center/ center-left for much of Europe), as it may force some wary Dems/ centrists to compromise faster and accept at least moderately-liberal positions, now that they're not being perceived as the extreme ones.

Also, I don't think AOC is really in that much trouble. She's eloquent and consistently going viral for positive reasons, her suggestions are overwhelmingly favorable by the American public, and the only people who I've seen strawman the GND are some conservatives who haven't read it and just listen to Fox News mischaracterize it.

Right now the republicans seem to overall have a fixation on AOC. Fox and others are giving her tremendous amounts of attention and free publicity. In many respects she's walking in Trump's footsteps (but reversed) except she isn't running for any higher office for the foreseeable future.

Has he even officially announced that he's running? Seeing him topping polls when he hasn't announced his candidacy annoys the hell out of me.

That and the fact that he's a terrible choice (IMO).

Ultimately this latest stuff is really great since we can get Biden out of the way sooner rather than later.

He hasn't officially announced that he's running, and I don't think he'll have the nerve to run given the recent women coming out against him. I'm happy to remember him fondly as Obama's right-hand man and their awesome bromance, and I'm sure that another political run for him would taint his reputation and memory.
