Interesting take on Pelosi's visit with SK. I'm sad this newsletter is coming to end, I enjoyed getting the perspective into SK media takes on things we don't hear much about. Gonna check out the website though.
On Tuesday, a South Korean delegation consisting of the speaker of the National Assembly and leaders of the main political parties met in Washington with Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the US House of Representatives. The meeting didn’t get much play in US media, but it made waves in South Korea after members of the delegation publicized some of Pelosi’s comments. According to Newsis, which reconstructed Pelosi’s comments based on quotes from sources (both named and anonymous) at the meeting, Pelosi said: “Kim Jong-un’s intent is not denuclearization but South Korea’s demilitarization. Can you accept that?” “The first US–DPRK summit yielded no results.” “The summit last year was just a gift to Kim Jong-un. What we need now isn’t words but evidence.”

It is a good sign that her comments are getting attention. Of course SK should engage with peace talks if they feel that is best, but they should without the President lying to them about NK demilitarizing.

With Barr being confirmed, possibility that Meuller get's fired?

Also, Barr has been AG before and has nothing to prove. He is a career lawyer that will be successful after he leave the job of AG and won’t hold political office ever again. He isn’t going to tow the line for Trump and fire Mueller.
|
He’s also apparently close friends with Mueller lol

Because Trump needed to pick someone and Barr was the only guy who would take the job and make it through Senate confirmation. Trump would rather Whitaker hold the job forever, but the people in the Justice department are mostly going to ignore Whitaker. And Whitaker's appointment as acting AG was super questionable, since Sessions was fired.

i’m sure his staff thought the same.

I'm signing a national emergency. Other presidents have signed em in the past, for far less important things. Nobody cared. They signed em and nobody cared.
|
Lol, China has no drug problem now.
Where the fuck is he going with this?
|
No place. He is grumpy that he has to declare a state of emergency that he knows will be legally challenged, halted and maybe even overturned. From report, the DOJ provided him with a recommendation to not call a state of emergency because they thought it would be defeated in court. But people within the White House convinced him he would win on appeal. Which has the stink of Steven Miller all over it. He mad because he lost and he thinks he might keep losing.
Edit: There is no teleprompter in the Rose Garden. He is just winging it.

|
Hahaha he has not even given a single structured reason why the emergency is urgent. Talked more about Obama and China and the economy.
'The order is signed, and we have a national emergency, and we will get sued'
|
this is the trainwreckiest of trainwrecks.

I don't have to do it for the election, I've already done a lot of wall for the election
Reporter: Can you talk about the conservative voices that... (probably wanted to ask about those that don' want national emergency')
[interrupt by Trump] Goes on to praise, Hannity, Limbaugh and Coulter for 5 minutes.

Most of the DEA reports show drugs are coming in through ports of entry, violence is down and immigration is down, where do you get your numbers from?
Well homeland security has many bad stats.
We don't know those stats, can you share them with us, are saying your own government stats are wrong?
No I use many stats, I have many stats. No no follow up you only get one question. SIT DOWN! NEXT
|
Trump today: "I didnt need to do this." Is he a smart person? Should we have presidents who arent smart?
|
And every lawyer working on a challenge to the State of Emergency starts updating their argument section while yelling “Fuck the old argument, he just said it isn’t necessary on live TV. Get a time stamp on that.”
