Mitch McConnell isn’t going to be able to live in the magically land where he could use reconciliation to avoid dealing with the Democrats any longer. Eh, this is the guy who fillibustered his own proposal. I wouldn't expect too much from McConnell. At least he didn't decide to go 50+1 on all Senate votes.

So lord turtle is welcome to follow Trump’s advice on that one.

If people didn’t want Trump to have secret service protection for life, they shouldn’t have elected him. And impeachment won't change the fact that the goverment will need to assure his safety going forward. Also, how much longer can than man live, really?

Actually the Former President Act, which allows SS protection for life, wouldn't apply if he was impeached. DoJ said as much during the Nixon mess (in defense for why Nixon was entitled to benefits since he wasnt officially impeached). They said it was based on an "unambiguous " reading of the statutory language. So sayeth Wiki and the article it links to.

Personally, I endorse the President’s efforts to us the Federal Army to seize land from Texans. Obama was going to take over the state of Texas and dispose of political dissidents....for......some reason. My favorite part of that conspiracy theory was how the goals at the end were so unclear and kinda dumb. One theory was imposing population control as if Texas would somehow rate over Florida for limiting the number of humans the state produced.

I'm also on board the "hoping he declares a national emergency' train as well. That will be hilarious if nothing else.

It would be an interesting social experiment to see what would happen to national dialogue if Trump just straight up said "every single day, one hundred thousand Mexican ISIS (MISIS) members flood through our borders".

What happens if he actually does that? Declare a national emergency for building the wall, I mean?

Probably gets sued like he has for most of his decisions. I imagine he would have to prove an actual emergency to someone, be it Congress or the Courts. That's when the fun begins. Edit: As a fun aside, Trump is lying in a funny way again. He off handedly said last Friday that some of his predecessors told him that he should build the wall. In just 3 days every living President has come out and said they never said that. Trump likes this sort of lie. He has lied many times about, for example, show hosts begging to interview him but being turned down only for those hosts to say they never asked.

Fox guy: 'The state department says no credible evidence of any terrorist coming from Mexico' Sarah: 'There's 4000 known or suspected terrorists coming here illegally' Fox guy 'I know that number but those people are detained at airports, there's not any coming across the southern border' Sarah 'Well they come by air, land and sea.'
