There are quite a lot uninteresting games for speedrunning in this event. Super Mario 64 is one of those games where speedrunning really shines so would prefer more than just 1 run of it. Also more people have played Mario 64 so if I were to show this event to friends it's better when they know the game and can appreciate the skill the players have.

For example, I think it was last year or the year before that had 120 stars as one run (Siglemic?) and then Peaches did a one-handed fast glitched run. And this year after the 120 race, they showed off modded multiplayer. So sometimes they show more of a game than just 1 speed run, even though it's not necessarily everything the game can offer.

Plus as we are people from all over the world watching this, you could also have them at different timezones too, which would also decrease the chance of people seeing the same game twice. But rather another Mario 64 run than 90% of the games this event.


Yeah I saw the event with Siglemic

This year I missed Mario 64 because it was in an awful timeslot for Eu (3am -> 6am) and I can't be up that late because of life and stuff

When you give extra timeslots to popular games then it's at the expense of fringe games. Some of those fringe games have been amazing like Metal Wolf Chaos at SGDQ last year and Transformers this year (and others haven't). It's part of the charm of the GDQs.
