I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings & corpses & anger & pain ... of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners...I have gone to join Ken if I am that lucky"

collegeboard dont get fucking belligerent with me.
Saying that picture had nothing to do with Carter's suicide is like saying "Smells Like Teen Spirit" had nothing to do with Cobain's suicide.

(Ken refers to Ken Oosterbroek, who was shot while capturing township violence in South Africa) no, he killed himself because he got a glimpse of hell, not because he took that picture.
That picture is no doubt the main reason that made Kevin kill himself. You may need to read more about that. Anyway whatever it was, the picture itself is a shame for humankind and I could not see any slightest reason why it could be funny to some TLers. That one thing I dislike about TL, sometimes some people here are just so cruel, or well, don't know where is the limit. (from my personal opinion)

and saying the song caused cobain to kill himself holds solid ground.
its arguable whether his whole career made him depressed or the public's reaction to that photo, but u cant possibly think that a man who spends his whole career in hell got all self-concious about a single photo.

It wasn't until the huge public backlash that Carter really realized what the picture actually meant.
People actually called him just another vulture waiting for the child to die.

he realized what the picture really meant? are u serious? im sure he took the picutre because of what it really meant. depression came from public's gross lack of sympathy/value of his life's work. it takes a person of true dedication (a complete fucking pervert also works, but a pervert wouldnt give two shits about the public) to see and photograph those things while living among them, and when the whole world turns on u because of it, it makes your life pretty much worthless to you

I'm not going to debate this with you anymore, as you're just making very unwarranted assumptions. I've been reading about Carter since I was 15. It's clear he was very conflicted about his life's work, and the public's interpretation of what he'd done.
This picture haunted him his whole life, and it's fucking insulting you'd reduce it to a "they don't get me" type of situation with no apparent frame of reference on the subject.
