if i understand correctly what you mean by releasing the finger is taking your finger off the "choke" or "carb" as some people call it. I am more used to bongs without one of those holes and with a sliding bowl that you remove instead but the same principles apply. I would say you should do that every hit i.e. - take deep breath exhale - start pulling and roasting the buds - **ideally clear the bowl** - release choke/carb/pull out bowl and then clear the chamber. - hold and exhale i would say always clear the chamber on every inhale otherwise your smoke is getting stale and floating away. people pack bowls for more than one person so its not necessary to clear the bowl obviously but if you are going for pure efficiency might as well only put as much in as you can clear in one toke so as not to let any burn off/get your higher cause your trying so hard to clear it  | ||

every alleged scientist who smokes weed is almost certainly also an occultist. but what this really represents is a tacit endorsement of "we don't have a satisfactory answer to Descartes' mind-body dualism and we don't want to talk about something we can't explain because we'd look like clowns -- instead we won't even acknowledge it and we'll live with this glaring hypocrisy." how is it not completely obvious that endorsing occultism and endorsing science is completely incompatible. the entire story is probably the following: chinese just happened to have a bunch of words that rhymed, and was a tonal language. chinese opium dens and drug cartels monopolized weed and simultaneously monopolized language. why? because good weed means c r e a t i v i ty the culture of the entire world has shifted and it's completely evident that these changes began to increasingly take hold in the west around 1950 and esp 1960. in short, western culture was introduced to drugs and gradually and then not-so-gradually millennia of drug culture from east-asian culture came to light. but is all the left-over associated mysticism and occultism worth keeping? it's like saying, "if we don't have christianity we can't have science." why can't we have legalized weed and a reasonable level of standardized language and culture instead of a million awkward white kids learning how to talk all over again at age 30. sure, some of this development is necessary and good but on the other hand, and it's a big difference, failure to develop a reasonable level of standardized language not only wastes a ton of labor-related resources, it also bars scientific advance. for students of economics there's no way the informational asymmetry represented by drug culture can possibly be good, and yet... well, that's the end of my rant. | ||

Anyway, I tried the bong as suggested by ComaDose. I'm not sure man. I did it right this time (couple hits) and at first it didn't do anything but after 10 minutes man I was SO high o.o I don't feel like it saves weed. Maybe it's because I don't smoke tobacco, therefore when I have a joint I feel really light-headed. The other thing that I don't like is that a bong hit is istantaneous - I prefer to have it last while surfing the internet, drinking tea etc and that can only be achieved with a joint. Maybe it's not my thing! | ||

There is no doubt that it does save weed. especially if you are chilling with your joint burning. how much tobacco do you put in your joint? | ||

I remember watching this documentary years ago it was hilarious, btw it was like, "Addicted" or something, and this episode opens up with a black screen and a dude saying "My name's _____, and I'm addicted to pot" and I just couldn't keep a straight face for the rest of the episode. It was literally this dude just spending a whole episode whining about his life and how it's not what he wants it to be. "OH, I WANT A BETTER JOB, AND I WANT A SLIGHTLY LARGER HOUSE." He spends a solid 30 whining about small things. And then he says he smokes upwards of 60 joints per day. It's possible to get addicted to weed. If you're mentally weak as fuck, that is. | ||
