Sup all
I started smoking pot again after about 2 years off and it seems to be affecting my play lol.
Now before I started smoking again I was beating high masters on ladder ( i'm high diamond) and vsing mostly masters players. 3 weeeks later I have gone from rank 1 to rank 9 and am now vsing plats/diamonds (alot of plats).
So basicly in 3 weeks I have gone from being on the verge of getting promoted to masters compared to now where I seem to be closer to getting demoted to plat then ever getting to masters
I think I just forget to scout as much as i used to and my apm has defiantly dropped by about 40 lol
Does getting stoned and doing 1v1's effect anyone else's results in a positive or negative way?
|
When SCII launched commercially I was smoking every day and when I would play before smoking I would do better than after smoking.
I think it is common to experience better results without the added complexity of cannabis affecting the nervous system and pleasure-feedback responses in the body.

I've gotta re-learn sc2 stoned lol
Masters when sober, platinum when high.....

The problem you are encountering has a simple solution. Learn to play high and learn to play sober. It is two different things and your mind will be doing two different things high or sober. When I am high I tend to be dreamier and have big plans for a certain timing and focus a lot on those timings, but having a nagging thought to try and scout and counter what the opponent is doing. When I am sober I find it easy to scout and know what they are doing but my macro and timings are harder to reach.
Just the way I work and not sure if it will be the same for you.
So basically I hit sick timings while stoned and have better map/player awareness when sober but suck at timings.
Could you try to explain some of the mindset that you are in? Or is it some other type of problem?

I think your right about having to learn to play high. When high sometimes i think im playing amazing and then as time goes by i realise that opps I havnt scouted for 10minutes or i havnt even been looking at my mini-map all game. I need to basicly remind myself while playing to do all the things i have already learnt to do lol.
Seems so weird coming to the conclusion that i need to learn to play high.
I used to only play FPS's and getting blazed didnt realy have any negative effect of my gameply. This proves how fucking awesome sc2 in terms of how much ur brain is actually processing when you play 1v1's

Yeah scouting while high is the hardest part. On the other hand my micro and special tactics are on point. sometimes my probe production slips but otherwise my macro is usually okay.
I usually do best like an hour after the smoke though
|
I made peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips. They turned out fucking amazing, especially since I usually burn/undercook desserts I make. Those combined with syrup joint is going to be one hell of a good night

Gaming skills while high/drunk is a parabola. Its really hard to judge (or stop at) the amount you need to hit the peak
Each game has a different parabola as well! SC2 or Quakelive/CSS require different amount.
One thing for sure, it sure as hell beats sober gaming, regardless of where you stand on the curve!
Edit: Those cookies look amazing btw! When I'm too lazy to split them into cookies, I just make one huge motherfucker with all the dough.

GM player here. Smoked weed, one weekend, went from rank 130ish to rank 48.
Stopped smoking the following week, now rank 140.
I don't know, just thought I'd share that.

For me I find it helps me to focus on the game and more importantly lets me get really into my micro and unit control (I guess you could say I trip out to my micro?). In any case when I'm not sober my mind runs a mile a minute and I have trouble concentrating on gaming in particular, as soon as I get high I forget everything else and only think of the task at hand.

Rofl at the pic above.
Anyway, was playing last night when i was higher than a kite, and i play zerg. Wierdly enough the my opponents nickname was "420" something so i started talking to him at the start of the game..

As a regular smoker myself, I just took a week off from smoking to lower my tolerance a bit and tonight one of my dealers just got some very nice (and very very potent) afghan hash. Holy mama, this is going to be an evening filled with joy. ^^

Thank you! My family and I are having a steak dinner, with caramelized onions/mushrooms, a hearty salad, baked whole wheat loaf, and a cocoa cake for dessert. I'm satisfied.
