I tried it once, it worked. Trying again. (to play starcraft better of course) Try it; its freaking cheap and easy. Just use better nutrients than the guy in the video and change your water & nutrients regularly. | ||

It is NOT more unhealthy than smoking normal marijuana. While it smells bad and looks bad, it's basically formed by THC/Cannabinoids/a little bit of plant matter and ash precipitating on the sides of the inside of the piece. It's not pure "tar" (which is just natural oils of the plant that aren't necessarily dangerous), it just happens to look gross. It's very harsh, yes, but for the same reason hash tastes like cat piss and makes me cough until i gag: It's a more dense form of cannabinoids, and so there are more alkaloids in your throat/lungs and your body doesn't like it. IMO people who throw out resin are either misinformed or have way too much money on their hands, because it's pretty awesome to be able to get damned blazed just by swirling a paper clip around in the downstem of my bong. | ||

Anyways, that setup is cute, but you'd be better off with many more CFL's if that's the route you want to take, and ditch about half of those fucking plants so the babies have some room to grow. Also a small fan is always good, they like to breathe too! Keep the lights really fucking close if you have CFLs, they dont produce enough heat to do damage from only a few inches away, especially with a little airflow from a fan. Fan also helps keep the stems strong. Oh, and get a fucking light hood! you're wasting half of the minimal light you get from CFL! The one good thing about that...is if you got your hands on some lowrider. Perfect for stoners who don't want to worry themselves with paying attention to photoperiods....or putting in more effort than necessary-an unfortunate thing for many stoners. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions anyone has about growing. I was looking at 25k in fines and 6-10 when i got busted =/ Word to the wise- don't tell your girls about growing. And if you do, don't piss the cunt off when you yell at her for spending all YOUR money. =( *cough* stupid fucking cunt *cough* | ||

I still have a 400 Watt HPS Light in storage because i didn't have an adequate space to grow. I recently moved to a new place i think i could make something work. Honestly i use to grow in my "dorm" (5ppl uni flat not really a dorm i guess?). My room was maybe 6m² (12 sq ft.). God the smell was so intense the all flat smelled like fresh weed, on top of me smoking all day.... That weed was so incredible. I did have premiere strains from the Netherlands. Man those were the days!! It is ridiculously easy to do most ppl have no idea. All you need is a dark room, lights and a fan! and fertilizers. i did hate waking up at 7am every day so my little plants could get their 18h of light but it was sure as hell worth it. Had to open the cabinet door or my babies would fry. And hard to go back to sleep with 400Watts in your face. Can u use a MH lamp for both light cycles ? I was under the impression HPS lights are better suited for both light cycles while MH were best only for one of the 2 cycles. Also aren't MH lamp more "dangerous" ? I read somewhere MH leak is serious stuff, not so much for HPS, which is why i steered clear of MH. Both are readily available here  | ||

You can definately use MH for all stages of growth. You can also use HPS if you'd like, although you'll have better results running MH all the way through than HPS. Hortilux-Blue has a great spectrum, and also has a lot of red. Blue is good for veg, Red for buds, generally...But it's not too hard to find a really nice MH that will give you plenty of red-and blue of course- and also offer a good spectrum which I think is easily overlooked. you want to mimic SUNlight, which isn't just red/blue, which is why I think I had so much success with the hortilux Blue. It has high blue and red, and the spectrum is covered. I'd say almost more important-at least equally- is the amount of lumens which relates to wattage to a point. I had air cooled hoods, so my lights were withing inches of my babies, running 400's(although i'd recommend 600's, I just got a deal) HID are better because watt for watt, you're getting the maximum amount of lumens. CFLs run cooler, use less energy, but that also means lackluster plants. People seem to forget; Sunlight=food. More food=more energy. More energy=healthier, bigger, better plants. Your medium(soil or whatever you use if you go hydro) is just as important! Technically the real "food" is from the soil, but it can only process and use as much as sunlight allows. MJ loves sunlight, if you manage to get "light burn" (which is practically a myth) then you are doing something RIGHT. While in veg you dont even have to turn off the lights, it's been documented that MJ doesn't need an absence of light to grow, but I think it should get 18/6. You want to mimic nature, and not giving it a dark period just seems to go against logic. So I'd say if you had to choose, go with MH and spend the 80-120$ on a wide spectrum, quality bulb. Don't skimp on the bulb!!! It's your sun! I'm not sure what's more dangerous about MH than HPS...just dont touch the bulbs with greasy hands, and wipe them down before you fire them up. DONT use tinfoil for any reflectors, it willgive you hot spots and burn plants. It's also not even as reflective as a nice,white paintjob- believe it or not. And as far as waking up at 7am....I hated that too! then I spent 10$ for a decent timer, and from that day on all I had to really do was water them, top them, make sure there were no bugs....just generally oversee and keep them happy. As far as watering goes, let the soil get a little dry before you water. I don't mean crusty, but oxygen is a major component of healthy soil life, and many people tend to think that they need to feed their plants so much water they drown them out. A good thing to do is to let your soil dry a bit, and when you water-at least every 3rd watering-make sure you let like 1/4 of it run through. Salts and things can build up from even a small amount of fertilizer. If you have good soil, you shouldn't need fertilizer until you're ready to bud, really. I'm sure this is getting long, but it's a passion(I'm an organic farmer since I was 14...I'm 23) and I love to talk, share knowledge and learn too! Most importantly- don't get greedy, keep your fucking mouth shut(in usa anyways=), and remember; It's a WEED! Don't try to force your plant too much. Realize life is a dedicated process, and it takes time. You can force a plant to grow faster than it's programmed too, so patience is a major factor. Realize from the day you plant your seed(if that's the route you take) it most likely be at least 3 months before you're smoking on any of it...even longer if you want to grow, cut and cure it proper. Have fun, stay smart, be patient...and keep blazin' friends =D | ||

and on another note, I realize a lot of this may be known to you, Nizaris, but I felt like talking for whoever wanted to listen, you seemed pretty knowledgeable, but that vid up there^^ with those poor girls, tiny buds, stretched stalks, shitty light, no apparent source of airflow...just made me flat out cringe! Honestly ever since i growed weed in my dorm i've had this hope one day i would become a "weed farmer". You know move the the Netherlands and run something nice That would be my dream job. Haven't yet found anything remotely as interesting that could be real work. Nothing is as satisfying as spending 3 months grooming your stuff then smoking it. Too bad it isn't "real work" in most places, damn f'ed up society but i won't even get into that.I was using "boutures" i have no idea how to say that in english, you know when you cut a small part of the plant put some growth hormones and put it back in the soil. There use to be a shop selling tons of strains like that here in brussels | ||

We usually call them "clones" or "cuttings" and that's all I did from my Blueberry and Kali-Mist. Two big mommas and cuttings whenever I wanted =D Someday, maybe, we'll be real "farmers" eh? =) until then, just enough to keep yourself happy is enough i suppose | ||
