This is true at clubs too where they add like "Super duper master XXL" on the front of like every strain and charge 1.5 times as much.

If you hear that it's 'White Widow', 'Purple Haze', 'OG Kush' or 'Sour Diesel' you can be almost guaranteed that it's not, regardless of the quality of the dealer.

Even genetically identical clones can have widely different characteristics if grown under different environmental conditions. Air temperature, humidity, mechanical stress (fan/pinching/twisting), nutrient composition, root zone temperature, soil moisture, light proximity, light wavelengths, photo period, and hormones from neighboring plants can affect morphology, flavor, and potency. I recommend The Cannabible Collection (3 Volume Set) to see examples of this.

Even significant breeders use hyped up names to sell their seeds. Well, I grow and sell my own bud, using seeds of different strains. I've personally sold bricks of OG kush and Sour D, so there are exceptions, sometimes the dealer really does have what they say they have.

There are exceptions but as I said even breeders will use false strain names. My knowledge of strains isn't that deep but I believe that OG Kush is a clone only. A while ago DNA Genetics came out with a selfed version I think. Sour Diesel is another one that would be difficult to find in seed form. 'Rezdog' of Reservoir Seeds is the only person who claims to offer a true version. White Widow is the perfect example of breeders just throwing around names. Nirvana and dozens of other breeders sell White Widow seeds that have absolutely nothing to do with the true strain.
