Is the World Championship thread worthy? If not could we at least update the OP! I'm so excited! Even though I think Carlsen is going to win, I think Vishy is going to put up a much better fight.

Is this the arena they are playing in? Epic.

Svidler commentary is crazy awesome. The only time I'll consider watching another broadcast is the one day where ICC has Nakamura. I want to hear the hatred in his voice when he talks about Carlsen. :D

It's thread worthy. Last year urboss made a very informative OP, here it is: World Championship 2013-thread
Hopefully someone can make something similar this year. I would gladly do it (in a lower standard though) but I'm a bit busy this weekend.

Can we have a countdown till the start of game 1 ? Biggest chess event of the year and it seems so quiet here :<

I'm not so excited myself.
I feel like Magnus and Caruana are on a completely different level, and I can't really see Anand winning.
1.20 odds for Magnus vs 4.25 odds for Viswanathan.
Not to mention, Anand is quite old for chess, and even if he wins, he will be out of the sport within 5 years (or a significant decline, just by looking at historical figures)... people want to see something new.

I believe Anand will feel less pressure this timel. Much less. I still believe it would be one of the biggest upsets ever if he wins this, but I also expect a closer series this game, maybe something like a winning margin of 2 wins.
|
What I hope it will be like: Anand ahead at halftime and an epic comeback from Carlsen
What I think it will be like: Carlsen crushing Anand in key games and a lot of short draws
Hopefully no quick draw today!

Does anyone know who will be commentating?
EDIT: Svidler is, all hail the King of the English language!

Wow, look at Carlsens eyes, he looks exhausted already.
|
Seems like Anand game out shooting
|
looks like until move 13 it was preparation by Anand which really surprises me given the position, I wouldn't want to play this with white.

|
oh no thread this year? :/
|
So Carlsen navigates a dangerous opening position and now he's pressing for a win. If this game is any indication it's going to be another tough match for Anand.
