I think this would work better if you included the problem in the post.

Apparently two players died during the chess olympiad, both of natural circrumstances. One in his hotel room, the other during the competition. German media claim the medical help was mistaken for a terrorist attack causing tumults. Sad.

So if you're playing a 30/15 time control game, how much time should you allot to opening/middlegame/endgame respectively?

Recently, I've been making an effort to use all my time in a game, and so far, I've been doing a pretty good job of it.. except for the fact that I might not be practicing good time management. I noticed that I take about 15min for the 1st 18~20 moves in a 30/15 time control games. My opening theory knowledge doesn't extend beyond 4 or 5 moves for most openings, so I noticed myself taking as much as 7~8min by move 10 in most cases, which seems pretty slow.

I know that you should try to play the opening relatively quickly, just relying on general opening principle of fast development, king safety, and center control, and leave as much time as possible for middlegame and endgame, but I definitely don't want to get f**ked in the opening. Also, even though making a mistake in the endgame is more lethal than in any other part of the game, I find that calculating in the endgame in general takes less time for me than coming up with a plan and deciding which piece to move in a near full board middlegame.

For a guy that has a background of blitzing out moves and finishing with more than 50% of the time left on the clock when the game is over, the idea that I might turn into someone who constantly goes into time trouble is pretty amusing.

So how do you split up your time, generally speaking?
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

That's a pretty tough question. The best way to optimize your time is to be able to recognize when a position becomes "critical", meaning that the move that you'll make in this position is really going to change the game. In this positions you really need to spend a lot of time. If you're forced to move out of check and you only have one move, don't spend your time and just play the move. Same thing if a variation is really forced, don't think a lot and just play it.

Here's a nice article on the topic: http://www.thechessworld.com/learn-chess/9-training-techniques/411-identifying-critical-posisitons-and-correct-decision-making-in-chess-

My problem is that I can't concentrate for four hours during my club games. I have a general problem with concentration and it's part of the reason I picked up chess, but the four hours is so grueling. :/ I would really prefer if games lasted only an hour.
Well, now I tell you, I never seen good come o' goodness yet. Him as strikes first is my fancy; dead men don't bite; them's my views--amen, so be it.

Livestream is really horrible. They have these issues every year, I seriously wonder why they're not switching. But really crazy game between Carlsen and MVL, I wonder how much of it was preparation.

I had to mute the commentary, I found it superficial and a bit grating. The displays are quite nice though, especially the evaluation trees.
