Out of curiosity, is there a chance for TL chess.com group to have a normal rapid or blitz tournament some weekend maybe? I find correspondence play too tedious to really participate, but I'd be up for some asskicking on short time controls.

I would be down for a blitz tournament or whatever. Even though I suck at blitz now and sometimes just drop pieces. And low time controls on Chess.com are bullshit since you can't premove.

You can premove on chess.com, you just need to enable it via the settings menu before.

In real life, once you no longer have a provisional rating and have played a couple of tournaments it's probably fairly accurate. On the internet, ratings don't mean that much. I guess once you've played a bunch of games and your rating's relatively stable.

Yeah I'm loosely following it (the timezone sucks for me). Back when I was at high school we used to regularly go up against the current 1st board of New Zealand (Puchen Wang, 24XX IM) in our regional high school tournament. Even then he was a 2000-2200 rated player and he and his school team crushed us every time (although, I did manage to hold one of them to a draw scoring the only points against them one year lol). Anyway, it's pretty cool to see someone you played against at high school play in an even like this!
